  1. I do admit I like the new one as well. I’m hoping they make one change to the profile, and that is to add a repeater. With the e-drone and now Bit and Kiss he could become a true monster with that piece of equipment! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. One thing I have found with Onyx is that you can't cover all your bases like you can with other factions due to the high cost of models. As for strategies: Fractaa for turn two walk on. She can take a stray crit as she can transmutate and I find that bringing her on with a spitfire can put her in a good position to go after your opponents support models/ cheerleaders. Dr. Worm for objective grabbing is just so good. And he can heal REMs and Infantry. Fire team of Unidrones. Having 5 unidrones with one plasma sniper is a great deterrent. Have your nexus hacker Lt. run marksmanship on the sniper and you will be at burst 2 in reactive hitting on 17 in effective range. The Lt is obvious anyway so use the LT order to use the hacking program. The enemy will have to go though the unidrone fire team to get to him. Q-Drone opposite the unidrone fire team helps on the defensive as well. TO camo is pretty good too. For objective missions a Malignos hacker or forward observer is great at pushing buttons with his high WIP and can go into suppression fire for a defensive stance to protect himself. A Noctifier spitfire is great as well for hurting the enemy too. I hope these ideas help!
  3. I like him even though I feel he is a bit expensive. When I take him I usually make him my LT to get an extra order out of him too and have a chain of command Farzan hiding somewhere on the board in case something goes really bad. I enjoy the super jump ability so he is very fun to play with, especially since he has such a great movement spread! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I like the M drone as a specialist as they are fairly cheap and very fast. They won't be superstars in a defensive role but come with some great support abilities such as deactivator if your opponent mines the objective or sensor for when your opponent places infiltrating camo specialists where you want to go. I like your second list best as I think it would be hard to use both EI constructs well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Sounds like a fun time. Glad you enjoyed your first tournament! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I think you have a well though out plan. Good luck at the tournament! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I like the breaker rifle. It won't be super great against TAGs and heavy infantry with high BTS but it will cut through light and medium infantry fairly convincingly. When you do run up against heavily armored BTS units you can fall back on your vorpal weapon. This guy lives for cover so he should be fairly close to your enemies by sneaking up allies to make use out of his weapons! Good luck at the tournament! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I say if you want to go for a heavy list go all in! Add four Suryats, and a Raktorak for a 5 man core fire team. Sprinkle in some support and have fun! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Vanguard hacker is certainly worth it as the support ware on the Q-drone works really well. I think he was just trying to give other ideas for your list. Another avenue you could try would be to proxy your Raktorok from the starter set as another Yaogat for a full 5 man fire team. It may be hard to free up about 30 points, but I thought it would throw a suggestion out there. Your list looks pretty solid. I hope you use it well in the tournament. 11. You continue to put out the best written battle reports. Thanks for sharing! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Khadoran, I've used the Sphinx many times now with the Onyx and he is just amazing. I think I have used the spitfire twice in the last 5 games as he is so fast he gets into great position and roasts line troopers. I'm also with you on the Suryats. I will use them a lot more when they have new models! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Thanks Nalim for taking all this time and effort to put your thoughts as a useful guide in Onyx. It must have taken a long time to put together. I appreciated the read and the criticisms too as it shows that this army can be played in different ways! Keep up the good work. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Never tried a list like this but I have to say that it looks very fun. On paper it looks appears it would work as you have many specialists for objectives and they are also hard to kill due to TO camo or transmutate on your fraacta. I may have to steal this idea, but first I have to purchase an Anathematic... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. As a MAF player and reading about the changes, I feel like the first course of action should be to try out the new changes first, and then figure out what needs to be tweaked after. I have a difficult time thinking that CB didn't fully play test their rules. I'm excited to see how things will work out when the dust settles after a few months of playing with HSN3. If the units are awful in MAF after a few months I can totally see a poll like this taking place, but before I can try it for myself seems premature. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
