  1. Marksmanship...right... not a bad consideration.
  2. Thanks... Yes the Ikadrons are interesting. Also the Suryat have light flamers... The DTW give a free shoot in ARO, that means very high chance to loose my unit against a BS15 HI... Let`s think about the Unidron link (the Rodok one is expensive and I would like to add a TAG to the list): +3WIP to discover, +3BS, +1B, Sixth sense l2 In a typical case, an Unidron fires against a Swiss Guard (or Hac Tao) at 11 +3 (link) +3 (range) -6 (To-camo) -3 (coverage) = 8 even if with B3. The target can shoot back at 15 +0 (let`s say I am lucky with the range) -3 (coverage) = 12 (even 15 when in +3 range) (in few cases I can discover at high range and give him -3) It isn`t a good situation for a firefight, isn`t it? In this case a MSV Maakrep hits on 12 and has a higher burst... That`s what I mean... The Samaritan is a good CC killer, you´re right...and also the Legates... They are options I got to consider. They are also good hackers, and that`s another option, also from outside of enemy LoF... But they got to move carefully (or using impersonation) because shooting ARO from such HI`s are very dangerous...
  3. I also considered it, and it has a certain appeal. I am worried about very dense terrain, which gives the opportunity to enemy units to approach up to a short range. Also in sniper rifle optimal range, a HI with BS14-15 and ARM5, in coverage is a bad target for the Overdron. Camo and TO-camo are impossible targets for the Overdron, especially if they are in cover. Now, I think that the possible targets for this TAG are few. I got to rely on positioning, that means going second and chosing the right sniping spot. Otherwise I risk to spend 69/2 (pts/SWC) for a defensive unit, which possibly does not do anything. After first turn, albedo is gone and movement becomes more tricky...
  4. Sorry, I didn`t get it... Why granades?? Please explain be better... Remember that a Swiss Guard has ARM5 and BTS6 What`s a DTW ?? Yes, that would be a way to get chances of revealing them... Now lets say that I discovered the above mentioned Swiss Guard and I want to annihilate him... If I want to shoot him I have huge modifiers without MSV. I normally play Onyx... so no Charontids available (I will think about a vanilla list anyway). If I stay tuned on Onyx, I need some different unit or weapon to counter that TO-camo HI.
  5. Up to now, I never left the Maakrep with HMG home. His main role: camo hunter. Especially when I expect TO camo HI`s ... It costs a lot, also in terms of SWC. My question: is there any other way to counter to-camo or camo HI`s ?? I could eventually invest the SWC`s in something else. Thanks
  6. HI again, I got to deploy a single group list (300 pts) and I would like to deploy a TAG. I am going to play Onyx, against a PanO list, and I expect a light TAG and some high technological and armoured HI (Aquila & Swiss GUard, first of all)... No visibility or movement difficulties, a standard deployment. I was making some considerations about the available choices: 1) Overdron: the HRMC is a good weapon but against HI or TAGs, if both of them are in optimal range and in cover, it leaves a good ARM save to the adversary (also if it is AP) and hits with high burst but against a better BS. Its high effective against LIs. The plasma sniper rifle seems to be slightly better due to the extended range; no AP and lower burst but the plasma thrait helps a lot, together with the tempalate. Anyway nothing great. The HRL is again effective against LI. Fire can create problems also to armoured units, but the ARM save would be anyway simple. The overdron has no way to fight in close.no capability to face camo units (in close or in the distance: too many negative modifiers) 2) Xeodron: the one armed with red fury has a weapon for each range (not too long but good in a dense scenario). I see it more complete than an Overdrone, if also not so armoured and without albedo. No capability to counter camo units, anyway. 3) Sphinx: great close quarter fighting capability, also against camo units, explosive CC weapons, that could be a threat for armoured targets. A spitfire can complement the flamers well for mid range firefights. TO camo means high negative modifiers for units without MSV, just the same for the others... and great mobility could make the difference, if also not used in alpha strike at the first turn. In the end a Sphinx seems to be always better than the others, no matter the side conditions. Now, you told me a lot about the PROS to have albedo at the first turn, but in case of camo snipers (it happens often) it does not means too much, because they give too many modifiers. It would be better to concentrate on targets in the mid range, but in this case the Sphinx results more complete and flexible, able to select and engage many different kinds of units, at different ranges... Why should I bring a different TAG?
  7. I got to play a mission in which I can deploy one single combat group and I would like to bring an Overdron. I tried a very quick list, in order to be a base for further considerations and improvements: Onyx Contact Force ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 10 OVERDRON 2 Plasma Snipers / . (2 | 69) STALDRON Flash Pulse / Knife. (0 | 0) NEXUS Lieutenant Hacker (EI Hacking Device) Combi Rifle, Nullifier / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 24) UNIDRON K1 Combi Rifle + 1 TinBot A (Deflector L1) / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (0.5 | 17) UNIDRON Plasma Carbine / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (0 | 14) UNIDRON (Forward Observer) Plasma Carbine / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (0 | 15) UNIDRON (Forward Observer) Plasma Carbine / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (0 | 15) UMBRA LEGATE Hacker (Hacking Device Plus) Boarding Shotgun, Flash Pulse / Pistol, DA CCW. (0.5 | 43) MAAKREP TRACKER HMG / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 33) MAAKREP TRACKER Combi Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 29) MALIGNOS Combi Rifle, Monofilament Mines / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 38) 6 SWC | 297 Points Open in Infinity Army I took a second Maakrep as I did not know what else I could take with 30 pts... TBD... I could think to avoid to put any Nexus into the link team (5 unidrons). It could be anyway be supported by the Umbra. I could forget the second Maakrep and the monofilament mines of the Malignos, and add a Suryat Lt instead... Terza partita ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 10 SURYAT Lieutenant MULTI Rifle + Light Flamethrower / Pistol, CCW. (1 | 41) OVERDRON 2 Plasma Snipers / . (2 | 69) STALDRON Flash Pulse / Knife. (0 | 0) UNIDRON K1 Combi Rifle + 1 TinBot A (Deflector L1) / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (0.5 | 17) UNIDRON K1 Combi Rifle / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (0.5 | 16) UNIDRON (Forward Observer) Plasma Carbine / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (0 | 15) UNIDRON (Forward Observer) Plasma Carbine / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (0 | 15) UNIDRON (Forward Observer) Plasma Carbine / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (0 | 15) UMBRA LEGATE Hacker (Hacking Device Plus) Boarding Shotgun, Flash Pulse / Pistol, DA CCW. (0.5 | 43) MAAKREP TRACKER HMG / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 33) MALIGNOS Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 35) 6 SWC | 299 Points Open in Infinity Army I need advices to improve these lists...
  8. Thank you very much guys, it is really clear now!!
  9. I thought about the Legate... the only thing that really plays against is its very slow movement 4-2 in jungle terrain (2+2 in the best case)... He can be deployed 4" beyond the DZ, close to the Sphinx, for a very first order support (to close a first LoF to the enemy), then he will be lost behind. On the other hand, I need a single hacker who remains close to a console... It would be a pity to sacrifice the link team for this purpose and a bit riscky to let it go forward up to the next console, if the rest of the group stops just inside the rolled zone to get the victory point... The Unidron sniper could be a good hint... I will try to bring one inside my link. I took the Suryat as he seemed to be a solid choice, armed with a flamer... good armour and jungle terrain. I could think about substituting it with a Malignos with monofilament mines: he can be deployed in an advanced position, needing few orders to get a good position into the right ZO. Very light armoured, but needs to be discovered first, before being shot... his mines can be a threat for enemy TAG and HI...
  10. We also got low visibility in this scenario... I need a TAG and my alternative is an Overdron. The Overdron fires better at long range, but suffers anyway the -3MOD. I will play against Neoterra, so I can expect Hexas snipers (TO camo in cover), or Aquilas with MSVL3 in cover. I have anyway no chance, also in the active turn... So I thought about concentrating in the midfield, considering it will be a kind of dense terrain... How would you otherwise see such a list ??
  11. Ooooops... I got to check back this part of my my strategy then... thanks for the advice. Any comments on my lists? Suggestions, improvements... ???
  12. The adversary expects a TAG. looking at the unit on the board he knows that a TAG is in hidden deployment, or that it is one of the TO camo markers. I need orders at the first turn, two markers on the board force the enemy to guess which one is the TAG and which one is something else (I shall be carefull to deploy them in a similar way, in order not to give hints about any forward deployment or similar). I would prefer a Malignos hacker (infiltration), but it costs a lot and I loos one order in group two, forcing this unit to be really static. Or I got to change the list in order to bring two Imetrons instead of a Ikadron... It is possible, but I do not like too much to rely on beacons, that could land in enemy zone and be destroyed very queekly, especially in such a mission where the number of orders is very important for the mobility of the units. The Nexus Lt risks a bit, I know, but at least he is in a link, and he can count on multiple quality AROs, if the enemy tries to assassinate him. Which alternatives have I? The Noctifer has to be an hacker in order to control a console... The Suryat is also going to advance close to the enemy in order to bring his army points into the ZO and try to dominate it... He would also be at risk.
  13. A Nexus hacker is in a link team with 4 Unidrons. Can the Nexus activate a support program (for instance "assisted fire") on one single Unidron of the team without breaking the link ?? If not, what could brake the link team instead ?? Or, if yes, what else could brake the link ??
  14. I think I prefer the Sphinx to the Overdrone... if also I risk a bit more in the first turn. Sphinx #1 ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 110 SPHINX Spitfire, 2 Heavy Flamethrowers / EXP CCW. (2 | 106) SCINDRON Flash Pulse / Knife. (0 | 0) SURYAT Combi Rifle + Light Flamethrower + TinBot A (Deflector L1) / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 38) NEXUS Lieutenant Hacker (EI Hacking Device) Combi Rifle, Nullifier / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 24) UNIDRON K1 Combi Rifle + 1 TinBot A (Deflector L1) / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (0.5 | 17) UNIDRON K1 Combi Rifle / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (0.5 | 16) UNIDRON (Forward Observer) Plasma Carbine / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (0 | 15) UNIDRON Spitfire / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (1 | 18) IKADRON (Baggage, Repeater) 2 Light Flamethrowers, Flash Pulse / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (0 | 9) IKADRON (Baggage, Repeater) 2 Light Flamethrowers, Flash Pulse / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (0 | 9) R-DRONE Flash Pulse, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 8) GROUP 22 NOCTIFER Hacker (EI Hacking Device) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 32) R-DRONE Flash Pulse, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 8) 5 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army No MSV Only normal hacking device A strong link 12 orders, that is not too bad The second hacker only for a deck in my half of the field and to have a second TO camo marker on the table at the start of the game.
  15. Great... thanks...
