  1. Hey, welcome to Homads. It seems everyone else has great input on your list, so I'm going to just throw myself at your first question. Especially because I just recently jumped into Homads and have been doing pretty well with a set of guidelines. The first things I look for is what missions you will be playing. For tournaments I like to get my hands on the missions way before hand, and hammer out the lists in advance. The missions won't super heavily affect overall list composition, but may require weird things like TAGs, or Antimaterial weapons. The second point is play style. As others mentioned above once you find your play style you can really take full advantage of otherwise lackluster looking units. As a note Im coming from Ariadna and N2. So I've got a hard on for close range gunfighting (RIP Old HMG) and camouflaged infiltrators. Also my meta has a ton of linked teams with missile launchers and sniper rifles that like to sit on really really cool tall buildings in deployment zones with LOS to every access point. So close range gunfighting is great for me. My points: Minimum 2 infiltrators. Preferably specialists. Starting midfield saves so many orders, and allows so much flexibility in engaging varied range band weapons (Sneaking a combi into a linked Snipers poor range band, or just PEACEKEEPER shotgunning nerds) An opportunity piece/hammer. Something I can use to just guarantee stuff left in the open dies. For Homads it's been Intruders with HMGs (duh) and Kriza Memeacs. They're there to just punish your opponent for making a mistake. Whether it's leaving a model in the open, or deploying a link team on an awful Warsenal catwalk where they stick out like a sore thumb. 4-5 Specialists. Try to mix this up, and get as many infiltrating as possible. Keep classified missions in mind as well, I try to take D-charges at least once. Fast specialists are great too if you botch everything early game. Defensive pieces. Minelayer special skill mines, living mines like Morlocks with Chain rifles, KaRaaazy Koalas, Suppression fire riflemen. As you can see these fill other roles, but are usually deployed (especially if going second) in a defensive position. Covering corners, standing in perfect range band terrain junctions. My recent favorite (Sponsored by Kinsennomad of Mercom fame) is the Jaguar panzerfaust/ADHL. These guys just sit at corners or corridors and hope the dice come out in their favor. Your opponent has to risk units to kill them, and they have dogged. I just had one ADHL Van Zant in a tournament. Surprise piece. This is usually an AD unit or TO Spektr with a boarding shotgun. Usually later turns once everyone has moved up these guys can come in and mop up, or save your bacon. Your opponent may know it's coming. But it's going to be deployed in a place PEOPLE ARE GUNNA BE, BUT THEY AINTGUNNA SEE. An example list would be this recent one I took to a tournament for the mission: SHOW OF FORCE FINAL SHOW OF FORCE ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 9 1 LIZARD MULTI HMG, Heavy Grenade Launcher / . (2.5 | 87) LIZARD PILOT Submachine Gun / Pistol, Knife. () JAGUAR Adhesive Launcher, Panzerfaust / Pistol, DA CCW. (0.5 | 13) INTRUDER HMG, Grenades / Pistol, CCW. (1.5 | 42) STEMPLER ZOND Combi Rifle, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 17) ZERO Hacker (Assault Hacking Device) Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 24) LUPE BALBOA Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, Panzerfaust, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 23) MORAN (Forward Observer) Combi Rifle, CrazyKoalas (2) / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 22) INTERVENTOR Hacker Lieutenant (Hacking Device Plus) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 25) TOMCAT Engineer Combi Rifle + Light Flamethrower, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 22) BANDIT Hacker (Killer Hacking Device) Light Shotgun, Adhesive Launcher / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 25) 6 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army It has- Tag for missions specifics Intruder for hammer piece Jaguar panzerfaust and moran koalas for defense. Loupe falls into this as well. Loupe for smoke support/defense Zero and bandit for infiltrating specialists Interventor for white noise support. Tomcat for specialist/surprise attack. This got long and ranty. Anyways this is my opinion on list building for Nomads.
  2. Thanks for the feedback guys. Ended up 3rd at the tournament, something changed, or I was unaware. But Dcharges HAVE to be used as CC weapons vs the AC2's which boned me in the first mission and didn't get me full points. Swapped a prowler into Looting list and fit a daktari in some how too. I'll throw more detailed batreps up later in my batrep thread/blog. round1 vs onyx Looting and Sabotaging Intruder plus smoke killed a plasma sniper link and a few umbra. Prowler D charged the AC for 2 points of damage (missed his last cc). My moran dodged 7! missile shots, and saved all three armor rolls on the last one. Panzerfaust Jags are amazing. ended 7/1 for me Round 2 was Show of force vs Usariadna Intruder killed his Ohio Missile launcher. Bandit killed the rest of the link. Van Zant got glued by overwatching ADHL Jaguar. Lizard acted as huge bait, this was due to me being terrible with tags. But it survived to HMG down a few grunts. Tomcat killed his whole Grunt link singlehandedly when he pushed up for center objective. I lost only my Zero. Overall I just rolled really well and forced him to move up with his slow link teams. Which lead him into moving TOO far first turn. Caught him in the open with my turns. ended 10/0 for me Round 3 was Firefight vs JSA Good rolls bagged him my intruder and prowler. But we traded for yojimbo and a bunch of Kesotsu, and the character domaru/another domaru. Everything kind of went downhill when I failed 4 smoke rolls in a row to get to a box. And he crit dodged like 5 times on a 40+ point Saito. I lost 7-2. He killed 2 more points than I did Keisotsu link with 2x ML is a pain in the butt. Had to really out play him to get around it, but it left me in the wind vs his CC monsters. ended 2/7 him
  3. At Adepticon a few years ago they had something similar to this. 12 players, 3 4 man teams deployed at different lengths on a large Combined Army Vessel. Each player was given two orders. And the turn order went: PC's all simultaneously. As in, they counted as coordinated orders if activating at the same time, yet had no Burst reduction. And could be different actions, IE: My Ghulam Doctor chick PC runs up Medics a friendly, while my Spetsnaz Squad mate lays down HMG fire. The Morat could only ARO one of us. Then it was the Combined army turn, who had the same order usage mechanics (Except a little different, explained below). Which lead to our "Alpha" team (I just started calling them that, and it stuck) getting murdered by some scary TO CC Monster as some Morat Warriors layed down covering fire. Characters were created using 12xp Spec ops+Whatever was earned in the ITS earlier in the weekend. (1xp per 2op or something). The Combined Army ship was large, and full of enemies. All enemies were counted as Irregular, and controlled by 1 or 2 GMs. Only certain power units, like an avatar, or some Leaders could use a small pool from their "Force". I don't know how that was determined, but I know our squad ran into a bunch of Morats, and their HI leader "Sapped" his lesser Morat soldiers Irregular orders to use them against us. It was A TON of fun. We never really communicated with the other teams, kind of leaving them to die. While our team blazed ahead, even killing an avatar in CC with demo charges. Some fun moments were one whole team being murdered/Sepsetorized by a TO creature and Morat/AI squad. Our squad flanking a Raicho and disabling it with a ton of AP fire in a long corridor/ship hallway. Nuking an Avatar with D charges. Fending off a pack of Pretas with shotguns, before desperate CC versus their handler. And having to work with the survivors of second team to kill their own Sepsetorized team members. I'm sure one of the organizers is here on the boards.
  4. Hey guys! Thanks for the comments! This thread is keeping me so motivated! Less than a month out! Here's my task master "Donk" and one of his Lovelies. I've actually started a blog! With narrative stuff! Including Donk. https://aenemyspotted.wordpress.com/2017/10/13/300-points-firefight-nomads-vs-neoterra/ I apologise for the quick phone pictures. I plan on formally shooting everything once it's done. This is also a WIP obviously. Just basic shading done. I've been loving using really saturated colors like red and yellow in my shadows! It makes greens really POP!
  5. Hey! I will post a collection of my various battle reports and AAR's. Here is the first one: https://aenemyspotted.wordpress.com/2017/10/13/300-points-firefight-nomads-vs-neoterra/ *Some language* I'm going for a serious/competitive style. But with some fun fiction writing involved with my mercenary army I'm building. Would love feedback, and any suggestions for future content. We're planning Youtube video battle reports, and a whole host of other content coming up, stay tuned! 300 points Firefight Lists: 9 1 LIZARD MULTI HMG, Heavy Grenade Launcher / . (0 | 6) KRAKOT RENEGADE 2 Chain Rifles, Grenades / Pistol, DA CC Weapon. (0 | 14) 6 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army Depending on turn order. Bandit becomes data tracker to finish off box with help of Lunokhod. Morlocks and jaguars provide smoke. interventor provides White noise. ADHL/Panzerfaust/Taskmaster are all ARO/back up pieces. Zero and Moran are repeater net/defensive road bumps. Jaguars also are coordinated panzerfaust shots. FINAL SHOW OF FORCE ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 9 1 LIZARD MULTI HMG, Heavy Grenade Launcher / . (2.5 | 87) LIZARD PILOT Submachine Gun / Pistol, Knife. () JAGUAR Adhesive Launcher, Panzerfaust / Pistol, DA CCW. (0.5 | 13) INTRUDER HMG, Grenades / Pistol, CCW. (1.5 | 42) STEMPLER ZOND Combi Rifle, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 17) ZERO Hacker (Assault Hacking Device) Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 24) LUPE BALBOA Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, Panzerfaust, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 23) MORAN (Forward Observer) Combi Rifle, CrazyKoalas (2) / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 22) INTERVENTOR Hacker Lieutenant (Hacking Device Plus) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 25) TOMCAT Engineer Combi Rifle + Light Flamethrower, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 22) BANDIT Hacker (Killer Hacking Device) Light Shotgun, Adhesive Launcher / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 25) 6 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army This one is tricky for me. I'm coming from Ariadna and hate tags in general. Lupe/Jaguar with ADHL are anti tag team. With hackers and Moran as repeater net for enemy tag. Can sniff out enemy midfielders trying to deny points, and triangulate tricky targets for spec fire. Really just having a hard time imagining going second with this list and surviving a strike. Please let me know what you think. I'm very new to Nomads. Cheers
  7. Hey thanks man. Your log inspired me greatly, I have a ton of your stuff in my reference files. Nothing super exciting, been busy working and finishing up school work. Follow my stuff on Instagram: @jmac22art Also starting a blog hopefully soon, which I'll crosspost to. I got a start on some of my Bandits. One as a killer hacker, and the other is a stand in for whatever. I'm disapointed I couldn't get the Shotgun to work out for the female model, but I am enjoying the pose. Backpacks are added for the campaigned look, and realism. (?)
  8. Thank you! Hope those profiles become a real thing. I might actually use Druze then! Should really change the topic to just "North African themed Mercenaries" Anyways, here's my rough put together of a lizard/medium tag counts as. Need to do some more work on the hands and sculpt some stowage straps for all the gear on his back. The chick is optional and will probably be magnetized for the display/gameplay. Next models are the Crazy Koala attack hyenas and hounds.
  9. This will hopefully be a log for my Druze themed army. The plan is to build them so I can use them as multiple armies. The current version is for a tournament in November, where I'll be running them as vanilla Nomads. I'm mostly a hobbyist although I've done well at some tournaments in the past. My painting is alright, but I plan on pushing myself with this project in more than one way. Attached is an image of my "Jaguar panzerfaust" she's a work in progress, as evidenced from the "kill me" face. Working on a Zero Hacker, a Lizard conversion, and some Bandit counts as. Excited to finally be a part of the forums!
  10. I ran a similar list at Adepticon a few years ago. I had an Odalisque Harris and Ghulam link team to maximize their missions there. I placed 4th in the GT and 3rd in the 400 point big games with a similar list. You really have to pay attention to where your TAGs will need to be in the next turn. I often ran Scarface on one side with the Harris, and the Iguana on the other. It usually led to cutting off a lot of lanes towards the objectives and forced people to fight you in cover.
  11. Horrible report, the haqqislam player is obviously superior and should feel bad for having to play such a poor yu-jimg player.
  12. Ill defo be attending the infinitorz tourney this year! Missed it last year like an amateur. Hope to see some of you guys there!
  13. Glad i could help!
  14. I have mine based as a bazaar style. I use battle ready bases, here is a link to a review/painting tutorial i did. http://kuethemuseek.blogspot.com/2012/09/battle-ready-bases-review.html?m=1 Hope this helps!
  15. Lost all motivation after had some of my models break and lose pieces, managed to glue them all to their bases though and started on a djanbazan. Here's a link to a review of the bases and poor painting tutorial if anyones interested. There is also a battle report and I am working on another?(it has zombies) http://kuethemuseek.blogspot.com/2012/09/battle-ready-bases-review.html?m=1
