  1. Can I get put my name down for the male deva please? It's the one from the devabot box set right?
  2. Removed...
  3. @Adra - I did say you might regret asking!!! Personally, it's a tough call. I can see merits in both and I can see how people can easily get staunchly aligned with one of the two camps - to be honest I'm happy to play either way. As long as it's cleared up before hand I'm good... Has the idea of a "five minute warm up" come to infinity yet? Basically, taking a few minutes before a game to decide on these kind of things. There must be a few other of these issues but I can't think of any off the top of my head.
  4. You'll be sorry you asked...
  5. Totally agree with all of this - highlighting black with Ice Yellow is still voodoo to me but it works, and it works really well. Very thin paint and pushing the paint to where it should be have been the key for me. Then going back and doing the reverse with the darker colour - you probably end up doing this step less as you get better. Two brush blending is also something worth googling. Basically keep a fatter brush in your mouth to keep it moist, then use that to blend your highlight back into the base colour - sort of the inverse of dragging the highlight up to where you want it to be. My limited experience tells me you need to think in terms of using the brush to push the paint to where you want it, as opposed to dragging or pulling it, so use the tip of the brush to poke the highlight up to the edge, and the shade into the recesses. Windsor and Newton series 7 brushes have helped *a lot* with this - they're quite pricey but I've got a 1, 0 and a 000 and so far they're serving me very well...
  6. Search "Painting Buddha" on YouTube... A bit GW-centric but very talented with well thought out videos... The NMM age of sigmar one (shudder) is particularly good a showing what's possible with brown and white paint!!!
  7. I'd not thought about this stuff yet really.... So can you isolate an inactive proxy? That doesn't really make sense but the rules haven't accounted for it - I don't think? It's not really the proxy you should be isolating, it's the "ghost in the shell" right? Would that even have an affect? [edit] just read the op - generally I agree with Q3, although I'm not totally convinced that an inactive proxy would even be eligible for isolation - there's nothing to isolate. I could be convinced otherwise though!
  8. Oh cool - I'm actually kind of surprised by that! So it was just a slight oversight then. Hmmm.... Might have to take an Asura hacker out for a spin then!
  9. Ok cool - any clue as to which way it went? :)
  10. Just wondering if this was ever resolved? I thought I might find something in the wiki but I didn't...
  11. I have to agree with that analysis to be honest - the Dactyl looks like the way forward... Thanks for knocking a few ideas about Phlyk!
  12. Yeah I noticed that about list two! Updated the post but I think I may need to find that extra 0.5 of SWC from somewhere, maybe swapping the Agema for a MK12? Have to decide if fairy dust is going to be better protection than a long range bullet to the head!
  13. Ok, so with a bit of fiddling I've got this: Steel Phalanx ────────────────────────────────────────────────── Group 1 7 0 0 THRASYMEDES (Fireteam: Enomotarchos) Submachine gun, Light Rocket Launcher, Nanopulser, Flash Grenades / Pistol, Shock CCW. (0.5 | 30) THORAKITES (Forward Observer) Submachine gun, Chain Rifle, Flash Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (13) THORAKITES (Forward Observer) Submachine gun, Chain Rifle, Flash Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (13) THORAKITES Paramedic (Medikit) Submachine gun, Chain Rifle, Flash Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (14) AGÊMA Marksman MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 30) DALETH Rebot Combi Rifle, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (17) DALETH Rebot Combi Rifle, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (17) Group 2 7 0 0 MACHAON Lieutenant Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, Zero-V Smoke Grenades / Pistol, DA CCW. (0.5 | 38) MYRMIDON (Chain of Command) Boarding Shotgun, Nanopulser, Zero-V Smoke Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW. (1 | 37) MYRMIDON Spitfire, Nanopulser, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW. (1 | 31) MYRMIDON Chain Rifle, Nanopulser, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW. (16) SCYLLA Hacker (Hacking Device) Boarding Shotgun, Nanopulser + 2 Devabots / Pistol, E/M CC Weapon. (0.5 | 36) DEVABOT Heavy Flamethrower / Electric Pulse. (7) NETROD Electric Pulse. (4) NETROD Electric Pulse. (4) 5 SWC | 300 Points Open with Army 5 Or maybe even swapping Thrasymedes for a Nesse Alke, dropping Scylla down to the one Devabot version and upgrading the Myrmidon chain to a boarding shotgun? Probably not though... Steel Phalanx ────────────────────────────────────────────────── Group 1 10 0 1 ACHILLES Spitfire, Nanopulser / Pistol, EXP CCW. (2.5 | 75) AJAX 2 Combi Rifles, Nanopulser / AP Heavy Pistol, EXP CCW. (39) MYRMIDON Lieutenant Boarding Shotgun, Nanopulser, Zero-V Smoke Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW. (0.5 | 30) MYRMIDON Spitfire, Nanopulser, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW. (1 | 31) MYRMIDON Boarding Shotgun, Nanopulser, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW. (24) AGÊMA Marksman MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 30) THORAKITES (Forward Observer) Submachine gun, Chain Rifle, Flash Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (13) THORAKITES Paramedic (Medikit) Submachine gun, Chain Rifle, Flash Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (14) THORAKITES Submachine gun, Chain Rifle, Flash Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (12) SCYLLA Hacker (Hacking Device) Boarding Shotgun, Nanopulser + 1 Devabot / Pistol, E/M CC Weapon. (0.5 | 32) DEVABOT Heavy Flamethrower / Electric Pulse. (7) 6 SWC | 300 Points Open with Army 5 [EDIT: made list ITS legal] I couldn't help but add a hacker into the second list and Scylla just fits... I just think fairy dust might end up being useful... I'm not totally thrilled about having the Myrmidon Officer as my Lieutenant but maybe there are enough possible Lieutenants in there to keep her disguised?!
  14. Thanks for taking the time to write this Phlyk - exactly the type of criticism I was looking for, lots to think about... My reasoning behind splitting the lists like this is simply because I intend to strictly play the mission throughout. I think I'm probably sold on that approach to be honest - of course it may well go horribly wrong!! All I remember from my last tournament was wishing I had a second daleth to be able to grab objectives in awkward places and what a monster Ajax can be when he gets in the thick of it so that's definitely influenced my choices this time. I'll definitely take some of your advice when I have a chance to properly digest it!
