So as a person that has played a few factions now, I must say after playing shasvastii and now dabbling with onyx(eventually vanilla): combined army really is a unique and super fun faction to play! I really am thoroughly enjoying how much they are making me think and I haven't even got to 'hard mode' yet which is morats I hear lol. It's really quite interesting as my frustrations with shasvastii are quite different than my initial ones with onyx. With shas you can buffer quite a bit yet I always seemed to struggle to 'push' my opponent. Onyx are pretty much the opposite in that they can bully quite well but honestly are a bit more difficult to play in that they can crumble quite easily. But the different repertoires that CA brings are really quite fun. What skill sets really attract you and make the game fun for CA for you? I've only been playing SEF for a year now but am excited to play the next season in onyx. First time I've stayed in a faction for 2 seasons so it says how much these EI duders are a hit to me!
  2. Bravo on the explanation for HC. Said it better than I could lol. I also like its challenge so to speak but dislike the randomness that it promotes and as you stated it promotes certain list skew and some factions just straight up do it better. I've literally failed 5+ straight wip rolls in hvt hacking/data scan in each of my last 3 games of HC. Pretty much everyone pokes me about my HC luck haha. So mine is a bit more 'personnel nuisances' so to speak, but it does show the absurd randomness of it as I'd dislike to win in the same manner as well.. let me know if you make it back to the Midwest sometime(I sadly won't be making LVO this coming year)!

Congrats on the win with Shock! Your play is insanely precise and enjoyable from the other side so I hope we meet again someday when you brush into the midwest!
  4. Disclaimer: only have played 2 games of onyx i also would run 10-5 or 10 order list with them. First game had a decent time because my opponent got in a shooting fight with the plasma sniper. Second game was against a jsa player with 4 TO troops including shinobu and oni. I've never been scared about 'that list' before with my sensor spam or minelayers but boy onyx do not have many tools beyond standard 17 and 8 point bots lol. They really do need a bit more synergy. Have some really cool pieces as I like their links. I know everyone says this but man a speculo would fit in beautifully for them. Make maakreep have some use(smoke) and more forward presence which they laughably lack Idk I'm saving judgement until i play them some more but they have some pretty glaring weaknesses..

  6. i would be kind of surprised if she doesnt have nwi/dogged... i mean every vedic aleph troop that isnt REM either has 2+W or NWI/dogged lol. my hopes is she has something weird we dont have in aleph like msv1. that would be a nice tool to have in a midfield pressing link team like dakini. and she would truly be an 'asura-lite' ha.
  7. ah so you do that style in NCA as well! was curious. i also stupidly didnt realize fusi were AVA5 in NCA. for some reason i just assumed it was all or very high(like 7). the sniffer/pathfinder combo is great. the thing i use more often than not is sensor with sniffers due to midfield camo being quite common. it is especially good with acorn as you have midfield 'hunting tools' that sensor can assist quite a bit to help you dominate the midfield(regular spitfire/LGL, montessa LGL, peacemakers, nagas, gda...). the 8 point bot is ace. flash pulse mimetism repeater and sniffers. love it.
  8. So I'm assuming I'll get an answer here as I cant seem to find it through 'the sources' . So when an AI beacon lands(disperses) on either a scenery item(like a console, etc) or another AI beacon... what exactly happens? It says that AI beacons are destroyed if they leave the field, but doesnt really state specifics about landing in an illegal position... Looking at the rules for combat jump it would seem you would place the beacon on the edge of your deployment zone. Is that correct or is there a FAQ answer?
  9. I use Montessa LGL in like half of my lists. The point of him is his influence in the game. For example if you deploy first deploy him out right. Your opponent will generally deploy dependent on that piece. For example they might put an AHD infiltrator nearby or deploy their link team and or Lt on the other side away from him. That influence in itself is worth the points. I rarely spend orders on him as my opponent deploys predictably away from him so I can concentrate my firepower on the other side of the board.. this is great for things like sikhs or gda that need to be destructive.
  10. the good ol' mine around a corner trick(or if you are careless, in your own smoke...) is the thing I'm surprised people dont whine about on here... when you cant smoke dodge shots with ANY type of smoke and reliably live, that is a tough position for SP. especially against someone who knows how to use infiltrators to put you in bad choice positions!

  12. really its list dependent. like if i bring two nagas and bring the minelayer, i generally go for the sniper mk2 as i already have a shotgun midfield. if i desperately need more overwatch, sniper. also the sniper combos well with some tricks(like shooting through white noise at an msv2 target... but generally thats a dakini hmg job for me anymore). dasyu combi is incredible for reasons already stated. NWI with a combi in suppressive can be a major thorn. and yes i tend to agree about the nanopulser being really nice on them. the boarding shotgun still sees my lists quite a bit it just doesnt mesh as well with my list style as i play dasyu FO/AHD often and would rather have overwatch especially since HSN3 where all the negatives on the sniper disappeared. oh and dasyu>>greeks @NateTehAggresar ... the only good SP is one that throws smoke for my deva to shoot through like a good pet(also protects backline decently).... also i know people love the dasyu khd, but me not as much. id rather save the 7 points for a naga khd. has mines, same wip... dont get me wrong the AH HA GOTCHA moment is great, but i tend to find more use out of the 36 point FO as its more toolbox-y.
  13. yea mk12 proxy just isn't good in comparison to the other choices. its not bad at all just doesnt shine over the other shineys. also, I tend to believe that generally with my aleph lists I RARELY have issues with SWC. Most my lists are around the 4SWC range(heck even with marut im generally never changing points due to SWC). So fitting in that 3 points for a 2W HRL is just a no brainer to me as its just better if i need an ARO piece/throw away nuisance. Mk1 and Mk2 are in pretty much every one of my lists so its always between mk4 HRL and mk5 FO which is just points dependent really... I mix it up though a bit with mk2 unlike most people. anyone that plays against vanilla assumes now you take an mk2 AHD, so the sniper can mess people up sometimes(plus i always bring 2 nagas and generally an infiltrating dasyu anyways so Im fine with infiltration).
  14. I mean I don't have much to add from @SgtHulka nice addition, but you don't have to play gwailos to have a decent list. As he stated though you kinda need to make use of that AVA or you might as well play vanilla. Two noc ML is just hilarious. You'll never get a more '$&@# you' look from an opponent who carefully dances until you reveal one then makes their move only to have you reveal another... that saying I generally use one ML and one spit. I love malignos ahd and would suggest picking it up if you tolerate the model or convert as mentioned above. Use the seeds as shrouded can get more bang for your buck. I want to just green stuff some capes someday on them to 'super bug' them like the other models. Get a pack of ikadrons is one addition I'd strongly suggest just because orders(and they rock). to add: @SgtHulka dude 200 points and below really sucks for shas I agree. Just finishing an escalation league and had to play first two rounds at 120 and 150 without REMs... first round playing against an intruder and a Moran at 120 was a hilariously bad matchup.
  15. @Regelridderen brings up some good points. I see a little lack of synergy as well. Agemas you generally dont see in vanilla very often and there's kind of a reason for it. I would change the agema to a second naga. There are things in your list that are darn good, but could be better with more support to use at their full potential. MSV2 sources benefit from smoke. Dakini(especially the hmg) really benefit from a regular hacker for supportware.
