  1. ...So what you're saying is "go with an AD plasma rifle", right?
  2. My first thought was to go in the same direction as Plex with the Engineer Haris as tech backup and area denial with mines (if you can afford to get enough of them off), though I also favour Tamrielo's mid-board presence with the Zerats - hence, why I never wind up taking expensive HI links like Suryats.....and, if you're going to take something as squishy as Zerats, then why not buddy them up with a Krakot for chestmines, the closest thing we get to minelayer skill. All of which has me dumping the Suryats for my regular favourites, which I'm sure really isn't the point of this exercise. So instead the Kurgats get dumped in favour of mid-board presence, and a slightly tweaked Suryat link to free up some points. All in all, most similar to Plex's, minus the secondary specialist link; Suryat Rush ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 110 1 KORNAK Lieutenant Mk12, Light Flamethrower / Pistol, DA CCW. Sorry, can't think of a classier analogy right now...
  3. There's a New Zealand site that's got Izat Beg and a 2-pack for a total of NZ$37, which is relatively cheap by local standards (usually they'd go for $57) - link is https://www.mightyape.co.nz/hobbies/tabletop-gaming/wargaming-miniatures/sci-fi/haqqislam/infinity if anybody's interested. Years ago when I was first starting out I kit bashed one of the bikes with some Zond (Tsyklon, maybe?) wingish pieces to make a Morat hoverbike proxy for the Medtech, but can't seem to find the pics at the mo'...
  4. Heya Cho, payment and shipping details sent for the following; Zhayedin, Tuareg Sniper, Khawarij, Djanbazan Doc Ghulam + Missile and Oznat. Cheers, mate.
  5. As a MAF player (well, collector would be a more accurate term lately) I've always wanted to love -or at the very least, respect- the humble Zerat, but have always had trouble keeping her out of harms way when going second. Turtling her well away from enemy skirmishers demands that she subsequently spend more orders than she's worth, thus negating the benefits of an infiltrating specialist. Lacking the minelayer skill to keep herself safe and alive long enough to make use of any of her three mines, she needs a buddy to help keep her safe - cue her new BFF the Krakot Renegade! With chest mines he acts as substitute minelayer, whilst also ARO'ing with his main weapon, freeing the Zerat to dodge or return fire as needed. I don't know that I'd exactly call them a synergistic combo, but I feel that they're one of MAF's best answers to either offensive or defensive board control. Most of the lists that I've been toying with lately have usually included two to three of each, to be deployed as paired support. Now all I need are some Krakot models and an actual opponent to test my theorizing upon...
  6. Matakashi also had a cleanish, white-buildings-with-dark-glass themed table from a few years back.... http://www.matakishi.com/infinitytable1.htm
  7. Perhaps Rama is one of the major cities / centres within the Caliphate, and it's just a geographical reference...
  8. Gar, so disappointed that I'm not in Auckland any more!! Hope the day goes well, gentlemen...
  9. Re: the lacklustre Zerat; this sounds a lot like my experience with her in the vast majority of my games. Going second leaves them extremely vulnerable to just about anything that can reach them -I've rarely had a chance to deploy their mines unless they're completely turtled up, which tends to increase their order usage . I find that they don't even qualify as a deterrent or speed bump, more a minor nuisance that needs to be got rid of. Granted, if I get first turn, or manage to hide / protect them well enough, they've worked for me, but one solo Zerat rarely feels worth while. Two work better if they're covering reach other, but they're still very squishy, and at least one will often go down in any case... HOWEVER, what really, really excites me about post-HSN3 MAF (far more than either of our new Haris options) is the ability to buddy up Zerats with Krakot Renegades. For 109 points, no SWC I can get myself 3XFO Zerats, joined by 2X double chainrifle +1 SMG Krakot, all with chest mines. I'm no longer miffed that Zerats didn't get Minelayer, knowing that with Krakots joining the party I can double down with board control And forward specialist. All for 16 points more than a barebones, single specialist Yaogat Haris. BARGAIN, I say! ...uh, now to actually get a game in. ...aaaaand get me some decent Krakot proxies.
  10. Personally, as a longtime collecter of Morats and follower of MAF related threads I've recently been pleased with the relatively high volume of topics being discussed, given that months can go by without a single meaningful conversation occurring. Were the recent topics without flaws? No. The insistence of some members taking umbrage at innocuous comments to the point of responding with explicit attack flies in the face of the spirit of co-operation that this hobby is founded upon. As such, I'd rather focus on quality of conversation rather than quantity - it's my hope that this intervention by moderators doesn't discourage individuals from further exploring the numerous avenues of inquiry that most of us have been enjoying so far. As for the Raicho, I'm in the camp that would like to see change purely for fluff and funsies. As such, I'd like to see Bezerk and Explode added, preferably with Iguana style ejection system for the pilot. Run your stomping robot into the thick of battle, club a horde of armoured humans, then fire your battle crazed operator to safety as a critical hit triggers your mass of ammunition to wipe out any survivors. Now that's my my kind of over the top cinematic Morat overkill...
  11. The original Hmg Sogorat (autocorrect wanted to label him 'sociopath', funnily enough) is a dead ringer size wise, and nearly identical design wise, excepting the shoulder pads and helmet. Annoyingly though, their poses are also closely mirrored, with the left foot up on tactical items. Still a good stand in using an otherwise now useless model...
  12. Leaving aside specific unit 'fixes' for the moment, given that it's been a long time since I got an actual game in, I'll keep my input at a more generalised level, addressing what I feel to be the overall 'lack' in MAF for me... And it can be summed up with a phrase already used in this thread; one-dimensional. Fluff wise, Morats have a really compelling history and character, but rule wise there's so little synergy and diversity of skill, equipment and unit interaction that they fall flat almost to the point of parody. What I'd ideally like to see is a better distribution of traits that actually reflect the attributes that Morats supposedly posses in abundance. For example, where's the dogged?! The marksman, sapper, minelayer, free agent, Mech Deployment, X-visor, veteran lvl2 to name a few. None of these traits are inherently imbalancing, yet the addition of any one of them would help align the mechanical structure of the army with the explicit character of the army. And that's without even delving into the whole morass of balance-through-points-cost. I'm going to keep collecting my Morats no matter what happens, but like a lot of people I think that my decision stems from my love of their fluff more than anything else. And THAT'S why they'll always feel subpar to me, because they're so far from even remotely living up to it. (wow, upon rereading, guess who's intensely invested in their man dollies, eh?)
  13. Haqqislam versus Ariadna might be a better fit point-wise, if not thematically. Personally, I'd love to see vanilla Haq versus vanilla Yu Jing just for the whole righteous-underdogs up against the imperialistic Technoppressors, sneakiness against brute force, etc etc. Throw in some sweet bladerunneresque scenery and you've nailed my brand of geek wet dream. Sorry, too much sharing.
  14. Uh, super-jumps to conclusions? Or, "correctly anticipates wrongdoing based on extensive past experience" if my own Rodok wife is anything to go by...
  15. I had the same thing happen to one of my Yaogat models -the blade of his was juuust wide enough to pin with my narrowest grade of wire, which gave me the chance to position it below his hand on a downward / reversed grip, which I feel feel works better anyhow. Good luck with your own repair! Edit: looking at your pic properly, I'm suspecting that my solution wouldn't work mid-blade. Looks like either a re-pack from CB or rage first...
