The Last Flight Of OSS Talvóra A background story for incoming tournament in Prague (and maybe a kind of campaign as well) OSS Talvóra was one of the last of its kind; a remnant of earlier times of space exploration, when humanity ascended the stars with pioneer optimism, without fear of sinister aliens. The ship was built on Acontecimento almost ninety years back as a ninth vessel of famous Libertad class starships, the second generation of large autonomous space transports capable of wormhole jump. It had seen a lot in its service time; OSS Talvóra assisted in establishing permanent colonies on Svalarheima, was targeted by Yuan Yuan pirates in Human Edge system while bringing loads of precious metals from Human Edge colonies and even more loads of supplies back, and was involved in several military operations during Neocolonial wars before being put out of service and then sold to O-12. O-12 put the starship into humanitarian relief operations, where autonomous jump capacities and gigantic freight hold still overcomes the disadvantages of ancient design. It has enjoyed several years of quite peaceful service. Then suddenly Combined Army spearhead emerged from the void, smashed human defenses on Paradiso and changed the future of human race forever. Facing a new threat, emphasized by total lack of trust between the Human Sphere powers unable to put away their ow grievances in face of the new enemy, O-12 has to mobilize all its reserves – including aging workhorse OSS Talvóra. The ship was refitted last time; defense systems of Nomad origin were integrated into the hull, cargo bays were largely reconstructed for carrying big military dropships, ship was converted to allow rotation assuring artificial gravity and a non-sentient AI was loaded into ships systems to assist the crew with piloting that huge beast. OSS Salvóra was then put on transport missions, carrying troops from all across the Human Sphere into the new battlefield. To avoid clashes on board – and acknowledging the sad truth that most of Human Sphere intelligence agencies would easily breach any O-12 regulation for a slight chance to damage its rivals – most of the military personnel was kept in cryogenic sleep while on board. O-12 tacticians thought that ships own defenses should manage most of threat itself. It did. Until May 7th 2187 AD, Earth Time. - Four days ago, OSS Talvóra materialized in Paradiso system near jumpgate. After proceeding necessary security checks, the starship was on her way to high Paradiso orbit. All crew was awake and ready to action; after several weeks of rather quiet journey they entered the danger zone. Captain Saul Laserowitz, commanding officer of OSS Talvóra, was quite concerned. The ship made a nice target for Combined Army, thought her captain. Aside from reinforcement from both PanOceania and Yu Jing, as well as several thousand tons of supplies, it brought also a small Tohaa delegation from some secret meeting in Concilium. None of Human Sphere great powers would allow alien ship access into the heart of human-colonized worlds, not even those supposed allies of Tohaa, so they had to use OSS Talvóra as well. As far as the captain knew, there were no complaints from Tohaa delegates or their armed escort about their conditions, but captain Laserowitz didn’t kept any illusions of understanding alien minds. Next few hours would be crucial. After that, they’d leave that damned system and get out for good. Not for good, corrected captain his own thoughts. But for a few weeks is enough. - On contrary to captain’s thoughts, all member of Tohaa delegation was awake. Ambassador Arra Tanoos was totally able to hide his true feelings towards their so-called human allies, but that doesn’t mean that he’s going to trust them anyway. According to delicate Human-Tohaa treaties, Tohaa module was considered an extraterritorial zone where no humans shall enter. Arra Tanoos didn’t rely just on the protocol – he knew how much he would abide it being on the side of humans. The module was arranged to become deadly trap for any intruder unfortunate enough to get inside. His mission on Concilium seemed routine; act as an envoy of Tohaa Trinominal and coordinate common statement concerning last affairs on Flamia Island. His real intentions went much deeper. He was charged with task to get information about human progress with examination of Tzeechi Digester, captured during combined operation several months ago. Even that was just a cloak for his true task. Ambassador didn’t underestimate humans to that scale that they’ll believe his official story of coordinating common policy in Flamia. But he also hadn’t overestimated those crude creatures as well. With their current state of art, it would take them decades even to figure out what they really possess. Ambassador mission was to evaluate the true political powers of those so-called “Human Sphere”. Tohaa representatives had almost immediately identified deep cleavages that divided humankind under the façade of “common governing body” of O-12. Unlike Tohaa civilization, humans hadn’t achieved any kind of Unification – and it was highly unlikely that they’d reach it in the future. From his point of view, humans was barely above the level of another “allied” races which Tohaa subjected to Exaltation; but surprisingly they possessed quite impressive, although crude weaponry, and cunning sense of treachery that could challenge Tohaa once – after several hundred years. Arra Tanoos had to identify the real powers of Human Sphere, and eventually made contacts with them. It was no surprise for him that higher echelons of human so-called hyperpowers silently abhor Tohaa; but there were much more actors in chaotic human politics to cope with. The smaller powers, ranking from fiercely independent Ariadnians to sinister Hassasin Society to cunning Nomads. The greedy corporations who – according to some analysis – were the real masters of Human Spheres. O-12 officials themselves. Various intelligence agencies, criminal groups and rebels with (or without) a cause. The results of his observations would be a source of great power for Tohaa diplomacy. Tohaa will use and abuse these factions. Raise the underdogs to power, weaken any opposition, support various factions and deepen the divisions between them. It was something that Tohaa mastered through eons of their civilization. In the end, they’ll rule the ignorant Humankind. If Ambassador Arra Tanoos will bring those knowledge to his superiors. - Approximately 70 meters under ambassador feet, agent Squees woke up from his long hours of passivity. Around him was landing bay 8, usually used for landing of inspection crafts. Squees and his two colleges from Shavastii Deep Incursion Corps had silently infiltrated human ship and waited for a perfect opportunity to strike. And now was the time – these pathetic primates wouldn’t even know what is going to happen to them. Up to his right claw, his colleges woke up as well. They neither need to speak, neither to transmit. They were sabotage team trained several years for missions like that. Silence was crucial, even when facing pathetic security of those half-evolved primates. As he predicted, his comrade Iceel had already hacked into ship computer, downloaded the plan and identified weak spots. Few swift gestures among them and all tactics were clear. Iceel would sabotage ships navigation controls, Squees take care about reserve system and the remaining Shasvastii will damage maneuver engine beyond repair. If all goes well, they’ll meet here in less then half an hour, steal one of evacuation crafts and leave for Evolved Intelligence controlled territories in planet. If not, they’ll cause as much damage as possible and then hide technical corridors and wait for Morat assault team, which waited on cloaked Combined Army boarding vessel nearby. Squees nodded last time on his mates to initialize the operations. Then they silently broke away into the maze of ships corridors, just pale shadows in cosmic night. - “Our scanners reported some unusual activity in propulsion chamber, captain”, reported ensign Marats. “What kind of activity?” asked captain Laserowitz, who woke up from usual routine. “The reactor is behaving a quite weird. I’m not sure of the reason, captain. Maybe it is just another deviation, which the old engine suffers after last jump. I’ll take a deeper scan.” “Carry on! And get me Engineering Officer Owen, I need him to send a drone to check it down there. For all personnel, keep extreme caution. We’re in a warzone now.” - Squees climbed up for another level through inner technical passage. He had finished his primary mission and now he wanted to achieve his second objective – to sabotage the life support systems on passenger level. He realized the smell of Tohaa pheromones somewhere on this section. It hadn’t surprised him – those Tohaa rodents was known for the entire universe for having an intercourses with various primitive races. But that was just a bonus prize for him – if he manages to disable the life support systems. Every dead Tohaa vermin is one less enemy for Shavastii race. For a blink of his scaled iris he spotted some movement… but on the second one he realized that all is calm in these corridors. Pathetic apes, he though, they pitiful life will end soon, and they wouldn’t realize anything at all! - Mariko Akechi wasn’t a member of secret Ninja clan for nothing. All the assurances, rules and limitations of O-12 officials mean nothing to her. From her own perspective, space was a hostile place full of dangers, lies and deceit, and human only chance for survive was based on ability to fight it on your own terms. According to ships charter, only a few of each contingent member should remain awake, armed only for self-defense, and were restrained in their own modules. But that wasn’t anything for anyone whose existence itself was secret even for most of her commanding officers. Her task was to protect the vicinity of Yu Jing module at any cost. If anyone – including the crew of the ship – would approach the module without specific permission of Yu Jing commander, he’d meet his ancestors sooner than he ever expected. Few second ago, she spotted something weird. Just like a shadow moving through the shadows, opening the doors even she had problem to bypass and heading for the air support control console. She followed him in the shadows like a snake… and when she surprisingly realized that it isn’t human, but a saboteur from Combined Army. While the creature started her sinister job on air ventilation console, she was ready. Her mind was in zen-like state – only she and her target existed now. Suddenly, the creature ceased her sinister task and turned around. She never finished that. In one beautiful move, Mariko Akechi drew out her monofilament katana, sliced the creature in two almost symmetric parts and took a defensive stance. - Strange sound, this time behind him! Squees quickly turned around… but before that, something hit him in the back and world descended into darkness. - “Engineering Officer Owens reporting! Something has bypassed the cooling systems near the propulsion. We have a rapid surge of temperature here!” “Captain here! How is the shielding?!” “I haven’t a damned clue, the control systems are somewhat… wait! What was that?!” “Owens, what the hell is happening down there?! Tell me, now!” “I heard something that sounded like a gunshot, captain! Coming from above, from passengers decks… wait! Jesus, the drone! Its melting...” - Akechi stepped closer and took inspection to the creature she shot down. It wasn’t human, definitely. It was something that her superiors - and maybe the command of the starship itself – should be aware of. But before she could decide, sudden explosion from some of the lower decks tossed her away. - Before captain Laserowitz could respond on Owens desperate cry, whole ship started to shatter. Most of the lights on board turned red, and then a cacophony of bridge officers voices erupted. “We’ve lost the direction… I repeat, we’ve lost it! We’re turning somewhere out! The ship is out of control!” “The rotation is going wild! We’ll lose the gravity soon…” “There is a hull breech in engine section P3!” But the most disturbing for the captain’s ears was a stoic message from security officer Krasin: “Captain! We’ve got an unmasked bandit 65 kilometers away! Its unmasked, with activated propulsion… and its heading towards us!” “Identification!” “Our sensors estimate it’s a Morat boarding vessel, with 85% probability!” “Bring it down the sky, for hell’s sake! We don’t have these damned railgun turrets installed for nothing.” “Negative, sir! With ship out of control, I’m not able to take aim, not even with AI help!” Captain Laserowitz stood shocked. In several seconds, his mission was compromised beyond all repairs. Yes, he could restore the rotation, repair the propulsion systems or regain control over starship. He would be probably able to vaporize the attacking Morats as well. But he and his crew could never exercise all of those tasks in the same time. He came to the hardest decision of his life: “Prepare for evacuation!” - Tohaa Ambassador stood silently in his module, trying to evaluate what’s going on there. Small changes in gravity, almost inaudible sounds and strange vibrations were maybe beyond the scope of human senses, but for veteran of countless space journeys and one of the few survivors, who could remember the fall of Agreda systems in was enough. Despise all human assurances; the ship has fallen prey to Evolved Intelligence. If his assumptions were real, the have several minutes for prepare. After that, murdering Combined Army commandos will flood the ship and kill anyone whose allegiance doesn’t behold to E.I. It was necessary that his information will get to Tohaa leaders; even if all on the board should gave their life for it. Ambassador started to give proper orders. More to come soon...
  2. Things never got weird enough for Salvatore Anders. That's how he knew he wasn't himself anymore. He certainly had not lived a usual life, but it would be a lie to say he sought out extravagence. As a proeminent academic in the field of Quantronic Socioengineering back in Neoterra, he had been a family man, a bridger of gaps and a proud spokesperson for humanist lobbies. Even in heated debates over the tri-system Ecclesiastic Accords, an acrimonious, year-long crysis centered on just how autonomously the Church's fleet and forces could operate in the Human Sphere, and led him to speaking opposote to tonsure warrior-monks (unarmed, but in full battle regalia) for all of Maya to see, it all still felt organic, natural. Why would things be otherwise? So meek a man, in fact, that he resisted getting a Cube for over a decade after his health coverage authorized one. It took the pleading of his daughters, who had married late in life and wanted their own children to be able to know their famous grandfather first-hand when they matured, to finally make him surrender. A small documentary was made about the pre, during, and post-implantation of somewhat famous, largely respected academician. But it wasn't the awards or the wealth that appealed to him. If asked about his favorite personal triumph, it would be organizing a forum on Heuristic Ethics aboard a ship of the Nomad Fleet, broadcast on Maya ans Arachne simultaneously. It had taken months of negotiations, cajoling, more than a few small bribes, and being scanned by his hosts more thoroughly than he thought possible to make it happen, but happen it did, and from that event were born all three modern schools of thought on AI-Human management. His Bakunin hosts dug so deep for evidence of espionage, in fact, that they were the ones to tell him that he was about to be invited to Concilium as a formal secretary-functionary of 0-12. The proposal itself was still bouncing between offices. He had accepted, of course. His wife Elsa had passed away a few months before in a tragic sub-orbital flight accident in which the craft lost pressure, suffocating passengers before they could put on oxygen masks, and he needed a new focus. Salvatore had been one of the fifteen top-clearance experts to actually inspect and debrief the very first living Exrah prisoner made after contact in Paradiso, and his interviews with the incapacitated alien were the basis of much of the Sphere's knowledge of the EI's forces and the societies behind them. And then his shuttle crashed. Space debris, the news reported. Glowing obituaries flashed across Maya, and even his Nomad contacts of old were on the news giving eulogies and catching hell for their kinds words back in their home-ships. Salvatore, of course, had not been on board. The crash was the cover operation for his induction into the next step of his service, as he saw it, to the cause of human perpetuity and unity. A young asian girl, obviously a cutting-edge Lhost, had visited him right upon his return from Paradiso, and introduced herself as Mara Zenoby, Quantronic Computation genius. She had been 87 when she sat on the review board of his Own Quantronic Engineering Phd (he was 36 at the time), and yet here she was, smiling, active, and in charge of so many new abilities and potential, she saidm that it made her previous prime seem like her diaper-wearing infancy. And yet he wasn't shocked. Everything, Salvatore felt, after getting the Cube had been a slow but steady escalation of oddity that somehow always felt expected. Once death is made relative, what was there to marvel at? The only challenges left, and the only ones worth the effort, he felt, were those bordering on the numinous: steering a fragmented society through rough waters and out into the ocean of its full potential. Once, not long after his arrival on Concilium, Salvatore had supervised a nodal expasion of Aleph's mainframes. Seven hardened underground levels with their own autonomous power supply, stretching for as far as the eye could see, filled with neat rows of pristine, cylindrical quantron-processors. He could only guess how many such installations existed across the Sphere. Being translated into post-humanity, his Cube unlocked and incorporated into that system of systems and into his proxies, felt less alien than pacing between those galleries, watching them light up as they activated. And now, years later, he still couldn't put his finger on when things had changed. His first proxy was lying in wait on the shattered, foliage-covered remains of a building in Moleran, behind enemy lines in Paradiso, watching a small group advance through the scope of a sniper rifle. The group consisted of four Myrmidons and his second proxy, weaving through street where the verdant net of life that half-choked the planet to find an access into the underground maglev network that he could then hack open for the assault troops. SSS Garudas circled overhead as back-up. was there ever a time he wondered, where this exact situation would have truly shocked him? Probably, he felt. But it wasn' t the Cube implant, or life in space, or his contact with aliens and the AI that had changed him. What had ended his old self, the one that could still be shocked instead of marvelled, was his realization of his place as part of humanity and thus all of humanity. He had been Posthuman long before he ever accessed a comlog; ALEPH simply felt it and opened a path toward his better nature. It was his duty to keep it open for others to thread, he thought, nodding silently as a synthetic finger curled touched the induction-trigger, sending a hypersonic APDS round cleanly through the head of a Shas operative that thought itself camouflaged twenty meters to the East of his other proxy and escort. "Contact. Maximum time until enemy deployment: 11 minutes. You have seven to locate an entry point before evac is requested." he said sub-vocally into the comlink.
  3. Hello all, Just starting out with Infinity, some gaming models to see how I like the game. Painted a Nomad and Morat box set. The Nomads are pretty stock, but I went with a desert color for the Morats. Not sure about it. Thoughts?
  4. Been a long time since I updated my previous thread, so it's now archived. Perhaps starting from scratch is better - I'm slowly learning how to make pictures that aren't terrible, but I'm still far from a good photographer. Here's what I've finished recently, my Dāturazi Witch Soldiers The current name of the regiment is not one that the regiment started with. Previously known as Nogorat's Raiders, the regiment was known for its brutal and relentless strike tactics. Colonel Nogorat is of those morat commanders that prefer to break through a wall, rather than go around it. His troops march relentlessly against enemy territories, gathering intelligence through their deaths more often than through direct reports. Another trait of colonel Nogorat's command is his love for terror tactics. To colonel Nogorat, fear is something that separates true warriors from civilians posing as such: sending the former to even greater feats of heroism, while reducing the latter to their true state as slaves. Thus, the savage Dāturazi Witch Soldiers are among his front line operations at all times. It was the deeds of one Dāturazi squad that earned the renaming of the regiment. After receiving the after-action report of one of the first battles against humanity, colonel Nogorat cross-referenced what translated records could be received from the captured human outpost. To sow fear into the hearts of the species that the EI desired to subjugate, he had to know what they dreaded the most. To his delight, one of the Dāturazi had executed a prisoner very similarly to an ancient form of executions from the human history. Colonel Nogorat had found what he was looking for. Until the humans would be driven before their feet, like all races before them, the regiment would now be called the Blood Eagles, both for the ferocity of the Earth's native predatory bird, as well to echo in their minds the fate that the humans would inevitably receive upon their defeat. After colonel Nogorat had renamed the regiment, all morat serving under him tatooed the new insignia on their shoulders. The mystic Oznats of the regiment modified the design slightly. Rather than the eagle spreading its wings proudly, the Oznat version instead had its wings clasped together, as if about to dive head-first after its prey. A mainstay in most operations, the Sogarats of the Blood Eagles wore their new insignia proudly, confidently striding forward across the battlefield and laughing as the enemy shots bounce off their formidable armour. Here's a shot of all of my finished models together. To correct my previous mistake of letting the thread archive via inactivity, I will try to post a picture or two of WIPs every two weeks or so. I have plenty more morats to paint, but squeezing them in between commissions sometimes proves very tricky, especially for the fact that I spend far too much time painting these guys.

  6. Has anyone actually run 10-12* Daturazi, or more? If so how did the screaming red wall of smoke perform? *I feel 10-12 is the limit to have some form of ITS capability. Although 1-2 specialists might be able to Rambo and get the job done with even more Daturazi.
  7. So I've been thinking on how to get some mileage out of the Morat mini's I have (without diving all the way in and collecting the Aggression Force). And it suddenly struck me that you can take an Anathematic Lt, which is terrible because you start in Loss of Lieutenant... But if most of your list is Morats...   8. Starting Morat Aggression Force (veteran player, though). There seems to be a lot of discussion about, and differing opinions on, how well (or not) Morats achieve objectives in ITS. I'd like folks to explain their Modus Operandi for achieving ITS objectives with MAF. In my other armies, it usually involves some mid board deploying specialists, often Camo/TO-Camo, and/or a few beefy HI to 'rambo' up to the objectives (Jannisary Doc one of my faves). With Morats, I'm wondering if one could use the HI-Rambo style deal to clear enemy then follow up with more squishy specialists to achieve the objectives later in the game? It seems we are light on HI Specialists, hence why I think the HI would 'clear' and the specialists would then 'take' objectives. But again, I'm looking for recommendations no how to deal with objectives with MAF. So, what works for you?
  9. OK, lets see how my first picture heavy thread goes... Love the new Krakot Renegade that one could earn by winning an ITS 2016 event. What has two thumbs and knows that will never happen? THIS GUY! Having literally just embarked on a Morat Aggression Force army, I was struck by the similarities between the Krakot and the Daturazi, particularly the Daturazi with (right) Jazz Hand and (left) butcher cleaver machete thingy. So, time for a little conversion/kitbash work to make my own Krakot out of said Daturazi. Comparing both the 360 video of Krakot and the docier artwork, the main differences are the T-shirt undershirt and bandanna head piece, additional pouches, goggles, and mine strapped to his chest. There's no way I could pull off a T-shirt and bandanna, so that's out the window right off the bat. Also, I'm not a huge fan of the chest mine, so we'll scrap that part. BUT, having a pretty extensive bits box from way back in my 40k days, additional pouches are easy. Having at one point built an Apocalypse-sized Nurgle Deathguard army, I'm comfortable with EASY greenstuff tasks, so I'll try to tackle goggles (my first GS task that is "clean" and "an object" vs. all my previous GS work filling gaps and/or making pustules and rotted flesh). Bits box rummaging later, and I've got pouches, grenades, and even a bolt pistol. Turns out, the hand on the bolt pistol and a Daturazi hand are pretty close in size, so that's a fortuitous coincidence in my favor. Plan: swap right Jazz Hand to bolt pistol, use left arm as is, add cod-piece in place of typical loincloth, add goggles, add pouches and grenades. RIGHT ARM Straight cut to remove hand, cut just in front of forearm armor. First cut left some of the heel of the hand, so a vertical cut with jewlers saw just behind the hand heel and a horizontal cut with jewelers saw just under the forearm armor... ...leaves you with a notched arm. What isn't shown is some hacking work with an exacto to carve out some of the inside of the forearm armor; as I drilled the hole for the pin I was able to further open up the back side of the armor for a better fit with hand. Remove bolt pistol from arm with a clean straight cut behind the pistol, then remove additional wrist bit by notching out wrist/hand under back of gun. Drill pin holes in hand and forearm (picture is before final insert and gluing). GREENSTUFF WORK OK, now onto some greenstuff work - codpiece, gap fill between bolt pistol and forearm, and goggles... Probably hard to see in this image but I exacto knife hacked some of the loincloth off the models legs - doesn't have to be perfect as most will get covered by the greenstuff codpiece, but some of the bulk needed to go. Made a teardrop shaped blob of GS. In place and ready to work on it. And shame on you for thinking that about this picture! Here's an in progress shot of codpiece. I shaped the top part to match his belt and smoothed and tucked under the rest (the end result is a bit smoother than this). The gap between the wrist and hand needed filling in. Not shown here, but I also had to cut off the bullet feed and turn it around so it would hang "downward" once put on the mini. Here's an in progress shot of the goggles. I put a small "pill-shaped" blob of GS on his forehead and a very tiny noodle of GS around the head connecting the two ends of the pill shape. Using a tool I flattened these both out, shaped them a bit, and with a brass rod I use for pinning, I poked eyes into the goggle part and pushed a nose notch into the bottom side of it. This shot was after I fat fingered the thing and messed it up, so had to re-do some of my work. FINAL TOUCHES So from here, it was just a matter of adding the pouches and grenades. For these, I used a little bit of greenstuff to mount them in place, then once I had nudged them to their final positions, I used a drop or two of super glue on the under or back sides to really stick them down. Voila. I did a little more clean-up work after these "finished" images, removing some of the excess GS and cutting/shaping some of the GS. I hope to get some primer on this guy over the weekend and get it painted up next week. I will come back in here and add painted photos. Feel free to ask any questions. I don't claim to be an expert in any of this hobby side of things, and only strive for tabletop quality in the end. But if an artistically challenged dude like me can half-ass a conversion like this one, then maybe I can inspire others to try their hand at some minor customizations.
  10. Hey guys, I'm brand new to Infinity and Combined Army and I think I'm gonna be investing in a vanilla group over the next few months! I've been doing a lot of looking around at different lists and army compositions and one thing I've noticed is most lists have very little Morat troops if they have any at all, usually just a few daturazi. Thing is, I'm a big fan of the new Morat models and flavour and I'd like to feature them prominently in my force. I know I can theoretically just buy what I like and it'll work out but I thought I'd throw up a list of some of my favorite units and models and get some ideas as well as maybe a discussion going on the most useful Morat troops in a vanilla list. I'm generally not a big fan of Shasvastii, I like the idea of a big group of Morat headed by some other powerful alien species and supported by some AI stuff. I know the ONYX stuff is coming out soon and I wanna leave room for some of those units as well if I like them. I'm going to be playing around 200 points with a few friends after our first purchase and then slowly increasing the point count if we want to invest more into it. I was thinking it would be good to start with a Daturazi box (one of my favorites) and some kind of decent ARO squad. Here are some of my favourite Morat in order of preference: Sogarat Tempest Regiment (absolutely love this dude but he's expensive) Daturazi Witch Soldiers Yaogat Strike Infantry Morat Vanguard Infantry Suryat Heavy Infantry And here are some of the non-Morat units I wouldn't mind using: Umbra Legates The Charontids (not a big fan of either model though, unfortunately) Skiavoros Doctor Worm Hungries Fraacta Drop Unit Drones (I like old and new) Unidron Batroids (I don't LOVE these guys but I wouldn't mind using them if a large portion of the army was still Morat) That's pretty much it, let me know any list-building pointers you guys may have with these details in mind. Shooting 2 times and each shot causes 2 arm rolls is great plus its AP. I know people been recommending the HMG more but as an ARO threat a shot that connects and causes 2 wounds instead of one is more deadly. again if you wana suggest anything feel free Thanks for all the support guys
  12. With information from Nova Open we have bigger picture of Onyx sectorial and what it would be like. Confirmed units: LI: Umbra Legate, Fraacta, Med-tech Obsidon Medchanoid MI: Maakrep HI: ? TAG: ? REM: Unidrons, Ikadrons, Q, R, T, M and E-Drone, Slave Drone SK: ? WB: ? We also saw two new Batroides (Overdrone and xeodrone), but we don't know what unit type they will be. We can speculate that they are REMs, but there is also possibility that Overdron is TAG (S7) and Xeodron TAG or even big HI (S6). We also know that Onyx will contain some of "elite" Morat and Shasvastii units. I expect that we won't see more than 2 Morat units and 2 Shasvastii units in Onyx. I think we will see at least one of Morat HI in the Onyx (and personally I would like to see Daturazis as part of Onyx) and from Shasvastii it will be units from this list: Noctifer, Shrouded, Malignos, Speculo Killer, because with Sphinx these are only Shasvastii units that are remaining in N3 and HS N3 books and any other Shasvastii units are moved to Acheron Fall. So I would expect access to some of Shas skirmishers, probably Speculo Killer and either Shrouded or Malignos. One interesting thing is Onyx logo, because this logo share same colors with Umbra Legates unit logo, so I think that maybe Umbra will see some more Umbra units in Onyx and that Umbra will be unique to Onyx and we won't see them in any possible CA sectorial in the future. One think I am not sure is which units will have fireteams. I expect to see Unidron fireteam, but from other units maybe Maakrep, but who knows. Probably some of new units will have fireteams, because I think there will be more new units for Onyx and not only Overdrons and Xeodrons, but I am not sure how many, because with new Batroids and all other confirmed units and with 2 Morats and 2 Shasvastii Onyx will have very decent selection of units. Also as side note: Information about Onyx cherry picking units from other sectorials also leave open possibility to see EI sectorial and Sygmaa sectorial in the future (it can be one of these two or even both, because if Pan O can have 5 sects why not also CA as main villain of Infinity-verse). 19.10 New information from ARO podcast. In one of the games I wiped my opponents entire army(-1 model) with only a single casualty but he won due to objective points.   19. Howdy folks. I have recently switched allegiances from my Jap sectorial over to Morats, and wanted to get some critique from you all for my list for a game on Friday. It is a 300pt game using standard rulebook missions (or possibly YAMS). I will be facing Nomads. I have played Morats a couple of times using a Sogorat heavy list but wanted to try out the drones and Pretas (and have more orders on the board.   20. Good Evening Fine Combined Folk, So, I've been wading into the waters of Infinity and came across some Morat models. More of an impulse buy, my FLGS had a Morat Vanguard Infantry box and a Yaogat Strike Infantry box. Usually this store doesn't carry Infinity, and I took the chance to snap them up. Running with the murder monkey theme, without any research at all, I ordered in the Morat Aggression Forces Sectorial Starter Pack along with the Raicho Armored Brigade (mostly because it looks cool, is Morat, and looks cool). I'm not saying this was a good plan, this is just what I did. I wanted to explore the murder monkey theme, and figured I'd likely have enough stuff to play with if I had these four boxes. So, my question to the community, is basically "How would you use these models?". It does seem like there are things I'd be well served to add to the force, but for now, I think I should probably build, paint, and get use out of what I've got. Thanks in advance for any replies!
  21. Eyeballing a 200 point WITH 15xp SpecOp ITS tournament in August (yes, fifteen points of XP on the SO). So far the only announced mission is Frontline (w/ the other 2 TBA - was some early chatter about central objective room missions, but so far nothing concrete in that regard). Toying with the idea of cobbling together a Morat force for it. But having never done Morat, I'm curious if it is a viable force at the 200 point level? They seem expensive on a per model points-wise scale, even the warband Daturazi ('warband' models usually being dirt cheap in other factions). So seems like Vanguard link, plus 'stuff.' ??? Can that get me to at least a 10 order force? The 15xp SpecOp seems like fun. I'm thinking Hper-Dynamics doctor (plus some other goodies). SO... thoughts, ideas, suggestions?

It has 10 orders (one of which has to be used on the impetuous model) and has most of my heavy hitters. Spend the first turn getting the HMGs into elevated firing positions with overlapping fields of fire, put them into suppression fire mode, and keep them there for the rest of the game. I'd combine the second group with the HMG as the primary, that way he got +1 burst with his HMG and +3 BS. I have five orders for them every turn, which can get pretty deadly after the HMG is in position... Or they can cover a ton of ground... Basically, these people would "really" be my workhorse, being able to go rambo with them and all. Thoughts? Comments? Critiques?
  24. Having a decidedly unhealthy obsession with linguistics I was a little weirded out by the Japanese esthetic of the Morat syllabary in Human Sphere. While the whole 'Space Oni' vibe is cool, the letters as shown were a little too delicate to fit into my view of my beloved rage monkeys. Taking the view that this was intelligence scribbled down by escaped former prisoners I had a look at the other writing systems of the far east and thought about what would still keep it true to the letter shapes in Human Sphere while giving a more brutal aspect. Then I took a look at Mongolian writing, specifically Phags-Pa and there was a light-bulb moment. So here's my ancient Mongolian inspired version of the Morat syllabary from Human Sphere. The letters are as similar in shape as I could make them, with the extra letters adapted from modern Japanese (because we needed Y for Yaogat and other important stuff). Want. Take. Have.
