  1. I have my second tournament ever this weekend and would love some input from the dragon brain-trust, Missions - The Grid, Powerpack, Aquisition Common Opponents: Haqislam (Tariq, Bikes, Mag TAG, smoke), and Ariadna (camo LI spam, Dogs, Uxia, Durrok) I'm riding high on MSV so I want to fit some smoke in. 2. Hey folks I'm in a fairly casual escalation tournament and we're in the second round. We're already up to 300pts and there isn't really any list building restrictions. Army lists can change between rounds and matches although it's strongly advised against. I'd prefer to keep the same list between both the matches in this round. The first match is firefight and it's in a few days. I had a really good experience in my last game where a fusilier with a LGL spec-fired my opponent to misery and the HMG in the link-team plastered an Al'Fassid on one order. I'm aware spec fire doesn't get link bonuses btw. But based on how well those went, I like my fuslier link with the HMG and I really like the idea of lobbing down hell on the enemy. I have a Squalo and there's no TAG restrictions so I was thinking of using the HGL variant cause even with spec fire, I should be hitting on 9's across most of the table. Given both firefight and safezone are a bit more kill focused, I'm investing in firepower over specialists but keeping some options open. I've brought it down to two lists. An important distinction being that the second one is only 10points. This is so people can't deny me 2 orders in the first turn as per the new rules. I've kept my unit selection mostly aligned to stuff I own or can reasonably proxy (Ice storm Nisse is my black friar for e.g.) Heavy Squall ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 110 FUSILIER Combi Rifle + Light Grenade Launcher / Pistol, Knife. (- | 4) 6 SWC | 298 Points Group 1 is again about having a strong ranged game, with some mid-field denial (hexa/Locust/sniper cover). So the idea behind group 2 is to have the CSU on Supression to cover some fire lanes with the breaker rifle till endgame when I can move the auxilia to group 1 (after casualties) to make a grab for an objective if required. It's got a stronger hacking game if it comes to that and the LT is "better hidden" although more likely to fail the roll off. The FO attack benefits from link bonuses so particularly crabby targets can be marked for effective bombardment and in case someone ADs into my backyard, the hacker can spotlight for the same effect. This list has way less orders but feels like more firepower but admittedly much less able to do objectives which won't be an issue with firefight but during the second match next week (safezone) will be problematic. Any thoughts or advice?
  3. So my friend and I have been playing a few Annihilation games lately, Nothing for points or objectives, Just to kill each other. But Lately Ive been having trouble with his Caeldonian list and Was looking for some advice on my lists to see what it is I should do, or general Tactics, The main issue I'm finding I have the most trouble with is his big ass werewolves running up through smoke and chain gunning my men to death, and His Fire team of Mormers AP HMGing my guys to pulp and shrugging off the hits. 4. I am still learning the ropes but am looking for advice on using White Noise Zone with my Custodier. What are some of the ways more experience players have taken advantage of it? Which units to bring? REM Repeaters, Pitchers, or Deployables? Vanilla or Bakunin? Thanks in advance guys
  5. I'm planning to do a demo game in my local store tomorrow. does anyone have tips/advice/experience? I have the aleph, steel phalanx, usariadna starters and red veil. 6. Greetings fellow Fremen! I have an ITS tournament coming up consisting of three rounds: Annihilation, Frontline, Supremacy. I've been tinkering with vanilla Haqqislam since I've acquired both Al Fasids and Maghariba and the incentive is to play with them, although I'm first and foremost Hassassin Bahram player. I've only got one tournament under my belt, which was not so succesful on the winning front, but a valuable experience. I've been playing against USAriadna, Steel Phalanx, Vanilla Aleph and Vanilla PanO quite regularly past few months so I've been hammering my Vanilla playstyle. I've been blown away by Al Fasid HMG profile, the guy is a beast and the first one to get painted after I stripped my previous HB Assassins Creed color scheme force. Now going for much darker, dark leather, black armour, glowing eyes Dune kind of a thing (Sleeper Must Awaken!). And I can't not play Saladin. Anyway, onto the lists. The first one is dubbed Supremacy Fasid Extravaganza: Supremacy Fasid Extravaganza ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 110 SALADIN Lieutenant Combi Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 5) 6 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army I'm quite happy with this one, especially cause its nice round 6 SWC 300 points. I've got Baggage Kameels for the point caps while also providing Repeater coverage, infiltrating Hacker specialist, all kinds of Hackers, even managed to stick our great Doctor plus specialist with 2 Nasmats. The Al Fasid HRL is my go to ARO piece, with his ARM 8 in cover and great BS, while also being a fun guy against clumped Fireteams and ODD spam. Got the Shihab aswell for some backfield protection and more AROs. Al Fasid HMG is the beatstick of the list. Now the second list, which is designed for the Annihilation/Frontline is sporting big M, and I'm having some problems with it: Annihilation/Frontline Maghariba ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 110 SALADIN Lieutenant Combi Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 16) NASMAT Electric Pulse. (0 | 3) GROUP 21 LASIQ Viral Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 25) 5 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army I can't exactly fill up the SWC the way I want, and I'm quite worried if my Maghariba bites the dust, or an unfortunate Monofillament blade. I don't exactly have another high burst dedicated piece, and the match might be heavily disfavored if she dies. Am I putting too much Hacking support around her? Could that be more modified for a Ragik Spitfire perhaps, or Odalisque or something? Comments and criticism is welcome!
  7. Lau Tzu is credited with the following quote: "A journey of a thousand li begins with a single step." I've taken my fist step on my personal Infinity journey. I've played a few games, joined a league (in uncontested last place at the moment) and already bought far too many models in such a short time. I'm hooked and happily so. I'm really enjoying learning and playing the game. This forum has been very educational but I'm wondering what other resources are out there that would help me. I have already found and listen to 'Maya Cast' and 'Totally Crit'. Is there anything else that would be worth a look, listen, read? My current focus is obviously Yu Jing but with a preference for ISS but anything aimed at the newer player would also be interesting. Thanks in advance.

  9. Hello everyone! I'm a new player to the game and I am in need of some advice. I have flipped through the pinned articles at the front and they are very insightful but I was hoping for more general recommendations for list building and tips. Like do I always need to bring a sniper. Should every list have a paramedic just incase. If the enemy sniper has the high ground do I need to take them out at all costs. Things like that. I would greatly appreciate any advice you guys would give. Thanks.
  10. Hi everybody! I am collecting a Tohaa force and I have what I think are the basics: Starter Box Kamael Box Makaul Box Chaksa Auxiliars Box What would you recommend as the next thing I should get for someone just starting out with Tohaa and why? I have not played N3 yet, so I'm not sure what models are critical for the new version of the game. I'm looking for solid, multi-use options that can work in multiple lists so I can get a feel for the faction and how I would like to play them. There's a lot of new information between the updated model rules and the new basic rules. Too much information to digest before getting some of the basics. I'm planning on using the airbrush, so the more models I paint in one go, the faster it will be overall. Ideas: Tohaa Support Pack? something something Biohacking? Kerail preceptors look sweet! Are they too specific in their purpose? Any help appreciated!
  11. Bad things are happening guys! I have volunteered to run a League! Specifically a slow grow league. In The Hague, we have a lot of people who "have Infinity", that is to say, they own the models but don't play with them. The most common excuse is that "the rules are too hard" or "40k is simpler and more played". I am not here to discuss this, but I would like to pick the community consciousness for any suggestions as to how to run a slow-grow league? Specific questions below: Past errors you have seen in running a league Past successes and good ideas you have seen in running a league Ideas for running a slow-grow league My current thoughts are as follows: League is split into months No specific league structure, i.e. not tracking wins and losses, more teaching people how to play slowly over time Start at around 125 points increasing every fortnight/month by 25pts up to 300pts. Have a set mission that everyone should play that month, showcasing some aspect of the game No advanced rules until 200 points Start with an intro game to bring everyone in I beg the communities wisdom! Love and kudos, Fez
  12. Hey folks, so I was playing a 200pt Decapitation game (basically kill everything with an exposed Lt.) against a Tohaa opponent on a terrain board that was full of holes. I ran this list USAriadna Ranger Force ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 110 GRUNT Heavy Flamethrower, Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10) GRUNT Heavy Flamethrower, Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10) GRUNT (Marksmanship LX) Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 18) GRUNT Lieutenant Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 10) VAN ZANT AP Rifle / Heavy Pistol, AP CCW. (0 | 38) MARAUDER (Multispectral Visor L1) Heavy Rocket Launcher / Assault Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 26) MINUTEMAN (Marksmanship L1, X-Visor) AP Rifle, 2 Light Flamethrowers / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 29) FOXTROT Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 17) GRUNT Heavy Flamethrower, Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10) AIRBORNE RANGER Submachine Gun / Pistol, AP CC Weapon, Knife. (0 | 20) GROUP 21 112 Light Shotgun / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 12) 3 SWC | 200 Points Open in Infinity Army The general plan here was to have my grunts take it easy in the back and guard my flanks/approaching Tohaa with flamethrowers. While my Burst 2 sniper found a nice place to shoot people. The Foxtrot would cause some trouble up ahead and when the enemy was overstretched, I would bring in Van Zandt and the Airborne for backarc mop up duties. A combination of bad face to face rolls and going on the second turn (yes I cancelled 2 of his orders) resulted in most of my link team getting blown up by Missile launcher templates. Since my sniper was exposed to shoot but every time she was targeted, my other soldiers would get caught in the template blast if I failed the roll. This would cause them to have to dodge at a -3 since they can't tell where the template shots are coming from. Positioning my soldiers far away from the link team leader within zone of control wasn't really a good idea either as then they would have no cover against general shooting. So keeping them close by and hiding while I let my sniper shoot was really the best option. Long story short by the end of turn 1 most of my grunts were dead so my cheerleader orders were gone. The Foxtrot was dead due to bad rolling, and my Minuteman got a missile launcher to the face ending him as well. So when Van Zandt and the Paratrooper dropped there was practically no orders to supply them with any kind of movement. Then Van Zandt died to bad face to face dice :/ ----- This got me thinking of ways to defend those precious link team cheerleaders at such a difficult point value of game. Perhaps I should have put in a smoke grenade launcher? (Though his force had multi spectral visors so that wouldn't have helped much). Drop VZ & Para at this level and get more foxtrots? The only other thing I could think of is FO spam and keep a Dozer+ Traktor Mule in the back for my own template spam. Maybe even drop the link team altogether and try an inferior infiltration spam instead? It was a good victory to him due to expert positioning of those missile launcher templates bouncing off of my one exposed guy to hit any link team members hanging close by, but I couldn't help but feel that if I slightly rearranged my force or perhaps got a less porous map; it could have easily have gone the other way. Thoughts? Advice?
  13. Greetings again fellow Ariadnains. I was recently looking to at getting a Traktor Mul. However, considering the price of the model (money-wise) is equal to a TAG in other factions, I began to wonder if there could be any other models in the multiple Infinity ranges that could proxy/be converted into a Traktor Mul. Even if the model is around or the same price I would love to get your opinions on what would work. Pics are greatly welcomed and so are summaries/ideas on how to convert the model into something Traktor Mul like. Looking forward to any comments/suggestions you guys and gals might have. Thank you for taking the time in responding to this thread.
  14. So I bought the remote set the other day... And I have no idea what to do. I say that, I'm pretty set on building one of them as an EVO Repeater. But what about the other? I've experienced the horrorshow that is the TR HMG remote at the hands of ALEPH but is it that horrible? Do I want it for myself? Is it worth it? Are there any other loadout that I've overlooked? I'm gonna give Remote Presence's episode on REMs another go while I wait for you guys to answer. Thanks for your time, I haven't posted in a while but I like these forums almost as much as I like the game.
  15. Hey guys! I've published an article to Data-Sphere for Aragoto tactics for the uninitiated (and even for those that might want a quick refresher). It's even updated for HSN3. Vroom vroom!
  16. I wrote something that I felt like I should be whoring out because it's an attempt to address new players to Infinity. I started Crits Kill People because I got tired of forum gold get washed away with new posts. I've got to say, after trying to keep up with a Facebook group, the forum is a lot less breakneck. But still... I don't see Killionaire's groundbreaking Adv. Spheretactics 101 being mentioned but that's because it's gotten archived so it will not rise again. The point of Crits Kill People is to keep that forum gold glittering. This post has been deleted once through a forum SNAFU, plus a venue change for the host and it's important enough that I'm re-writing it against because it is full of advice newbies need to know. Full Article here. Gist: 5. Killers Aren't Winners 4. It's Unfair Because You Let It Happen 3. I Can't Tell You How to Play 2. If You Need to Ask for ITS List Advice, Consider Skipping ITS 1. Everything Dies Most war games are strategic. The best analogy I can think of is that your job is to create the most awesome wind-up robot that you program full of instructions, then you both reveal your robots who duke it out in an arena until one is vanquished and the other stands triumphant. Infinity is a tactics game. This means that you're supposed to pilot your robot, it isn't some automated device that trumps opponents based on how clever you are. Infinity rewards players on cunning. The what is far less important than the why. This means if you select a model that you expect to carry the entire game, for example, an Achilles who you wish to 'rambo' through an opponent you'll be severely disappointed. Achilles can die and he won't win you the game, you require Specialists. Specialists are models that are able to win you the game, such as, Doctors, Paramedics, Engineers, Hackers, Forward Observers and Chain of Command models. With requiring two different types of models, you can easily see how Infinity is a game based on decisions rather than pre-determined based on components. Due to how complex even the most simple scenarios can be, it's why the division between killers and winners needs to exist. The other unfortunate part of the fact that Infinity doesn't have an 'auto-pilot' means I can't tell you had to win. I can provide ideas but it is up to you to deal with the risk on your own terms. This is also why Infinity can seem unfair, especially when you start. There are so many ways for someone to sucker punch you with Airborne Deployment, Total Reaction, Infiltration or just being damned good at the game. The Order system also lets your opponent keep punishing you throughout the turn, making learning hard for a new player because you don't quite know where you went wrong. The good news is is that the game isn't broken; the bad news is you let that bad play happen. With Infinity having a learning curve more akin to a brick wall, I would argue to stay away from ITS. ITS is very good at determining a player's skill because the scenarios eschew everything over how to operate your models. Furthermore, any cries of "It's not your list" ring entirely untrue here. You need an optimized list, you need to know how to play your faction and you definitely need to know each of your model's limits. There are plenty of other scenarios to choose from if you want to play for fun, such as our collection of Mission Mondays, IJW's YAMS or whatever fun stuff you and your buddies want to play. Infinity can be competitive but I don't think it needs to be Warmachine level of 'each game is in preparation for the next tournament'. Live a little. Due to how flexible Infinity is with how you spend Orders and further the complexity of which actions a model may perform per Order, Infinity is more akin to an RPG. Each action is decided by you, there isn't a preset of intstructions of what models can do. This is why you're piloting of your Infinity robot is more important than the components. Factions can perform almost every single play style. What separates their capability is your ability to play them. What this means is that you're not forced into a faction for wanting to play "Shooty", "Defensive" or "Melee". Choose your faction based on the aesthetic of the model or the fluff of their story. At the beginning, a faction's strengths are very pronounced but as you get better they become far less so. Choose the models you want to play. The last thing to keep in mind with Infinity is that it is one of the few wargames where your models don't last on the table. I know I just told you to think of Infinity as an RPG but your role is going to be a hardened battlefield commander; you're not here to love your models. They're hidden under a marker, alive or dead. That's two out of three states that has your models not strutting around on the board. No matter how special a model is, especially if it has an amazing paint job, the sad fact is that if your opponent wants it dead it's dead. The only thing you can do is waste their time so severely with other models that get in the way so much is that your special model doesn't die this turn. Already kiss your models good bye when you place them on the field, only then do you have a shot at winning the game. Oh and who is your favourite ninja turtle? There's a lot of talk about ITS but I don't think it is as flavourful as Infinity's potential allows. There is also IJW's YAMS but I find that it is too random. There isn't a specific flavour in addition to the missions. I listed Mission Mondays before, but that contains talk about building for missions as well as an assortment of other random topics. 17. I constantly have trouble going up against my friends Aleph armies. It feels like I just never have the tools to deal with all the TO models and tough NWI Asuras. We tend to play ITS missions, but we aren't going to tournaments or anything, So I guess I simply have trouble moving around the board with TO snipers an hackers to deal with plus the MSV of his Asura and/or Deva. What can I do/use to make sure I hit these guys in the first place and when I do make sure they go down?
  18. Hello everyone, I'm porting over here to the CB forums from Dakka Dakka. As the title says, I'm new to Infinity (crossing over from Warmahordes/W40k). I've been doing a lot of research and talking with other players and I have decided that Yu Jing is the faction for me. That being said, I'm looking for some advice on a beginning list I have worked out. I'm planning on getting the vanilla YJ starter and I'll be picking up two other blisters to complement it. As it stands now, I plan on having the following: x1 Celestial Guardx1 Domaru Butaix1 Oniwabanx1 Shang Jix1 Yan Huo (HMC)x3 ZhanshiWhat do you guys think? Is this a decent set up to start out with? I'll only be playing casually for the time being. Thanks in advance.
  19. Hi everyone! I'm new to infinity but i intend to build a 300 point army that can do objectives. The reason why i wish to buy a 300 point army is because i intend to get them painted by Den of Imagination and so i really don't want to buy multiple small orders. About the list itself. The things which I'am set in stone about is the fact that i want Jannisaries and Lasiqs in my army. But apart from that i'm open to suggestions and tweaks. I do not intend to face off in ITS anytime soon and so all i wish to know is if this army will get completely wrecked or if i'm prioritizing the wrong things. Thanks in advance for any feedback you might provide. Haqqislam ────────────────────────────────────────────────── Group 1 4 0 0 LASIQ Viral Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. 20. So in general I am here to ask for any advice running JSA in ITS. Any tips or links to articles would be great, cant seem to find any on the forum search but I know they are there. Are there any must have units I should be watching for? Any terrible units I definitely should not take? Any advice is greatly appreciated as I will be jumping into ITS for the first time with our group soon.
  21. Ok so I used to be a shasvasti sectorial player and I have several of the models still including a sphinx. My question is what has changed about the way I have to play as the sectorial in N3? Any and all advice for playing this game now is appreciated. I am currently pouring over the rules trying to relearn the game.
  22. Hey everyone I started playing infinity over a year ago and some of you may recall I made a thread discussing the various issues I faced and the constant defeats I suffered when first starting out. Since following the great advice I received I have won most of my recent games and drawn in others. It's got to the point that at the club I play at people have asked me to run non-sectoral lists as my link teams have been so effective that in a number of games my opponents were wiped out and in full retreat by the end of my turn two. From reading the forums it's clear that there are so many great tips and lists but they lack organisations. As Combine players we should all strive for organisations to emulate our benevolent computer overlord In terms of organisation I would suggested pooling our collective knowledge to create a help guide that covers the basics such as common Q&A issues, lists and advanced player advice. It could even be collected into a word or PDF document. I suggest in this thread we leave tips, leave/answer Questions, post lists (and critique them) and generally try to give advice to both new players and those more experienced. I'll start the ball rolling... Question: If a Fraacta his hit with shock ammunition does it move straight to dead (has 1 wound) and is removed from play or does it still transmute into it's survival form? Unit discussion: Morat with a Missile launcher vs Gwailo with Heavy rocket launcher. Which would you field and why? A suggested list: CHARONTID Lt+Hacker 0.5 73 MED-TECH OBSIDON MEDCHANOID 0 23 SLAVE DRONE 0 3 M-DRONE 0 17 Q-DRONE HMG 1 26 MAAKREP TRACKER HMG 1.5 33 MORAT Sniper 1 21 MORAT ML 1.5 19 SHROUDED Combi 0 24 SHROUDED Combi 0 24 KO DALI 0 37 300 points 5.5 SWC How would you improve this list? What else would you suggest instead? How do you use the list you've posted? Advice: I would suggest to Combine players to field at least some K1 and Plasma units as it's an edge other factions lack. Please feel free to add. I know that a lot of skilled players are on the forums and the more people learn the better opponents they will make; leading to better games!
  23. Hello fellow scum of space, welcome to topic about our newest unit in wich we will discus what work and not, our thoughts about this unit and how to be a mean as Nomads should be. So for starters pros and cons(ofc you may think diffrent) Pros: -Infiltration (finally some for Corregidor sectorial) -Cammo (Intruder dont feel lonley any more, also can do sneak attack) -MA2 (nice for close range unit) -21 CC (not Achilles but it should get job done) -BS 12 (nice ) -PH 13 (will come handy and make them survive more) -ARM1 BTS3 (my zeros cry in pain) Cons: -WIP 12 (in Army with basic grunts geting 13 this kinda hurst, also make discover/objective/intuitive harder) -Irregular (im not sold on idea that my infiltrators order are just for him, need to be thought when list is made so you dont starve on orders) Middle: -Multiterrain (cant hurt to have it) -Scavanger (can do wonders or nothing whole game) -Equipment (thats an odd ball, I dont like new Adhl ranges and pay more for mines. Hacker with bts3 is cool but wip12 dont wish it well in my list, same with FO....Zero cost less and have combi and mines. E/mauler looks better with BS but it cost.) So there they are, my personal experience is limited(only 2 games with very not well thought lists) but I had problems with wip12 and adhl bands.....second isnt a problem as I need to get use to them but spending orders to fail discover/intuitive mine grinds my gear. They seems nice for sectorial but in vanila Zeros are very determined to stay in.
  24. Hi All, To add a little variety to my games I've been looking at a secondary faction. I am a bit of a shiny collector so do have units from Yu Jing, Pan-O and Nomads but have settled on Nomads as my secondary faction. So this is hopefully going to turn into a painting/game journey. For the Nomad models I own at the moment I have the below. (Vanilla Nomad starter box) 3 X Alguacil's Mobile Brigada Securitate Zero Wildcat (Engineer model that doesn't seem to show up on the site anymore) Tsyklon Sputnic 1 + 2 (From the box) (Uberfall Commando Box) Chimera 3 X Pupniks Looking to play a mix of Vanilla and Corregidor sectoral forces! Any advice on where to go next would be appreciated
  25. Hello, a few weeks ago me and my mates from the Mannheimer Blood Bowl League decided to start playing Infinity. It is a really great game and even though we have only played a couple of games, we are excited to play more and have started painting our armies and building suitable terrain. However, we are all new and we have faced some problems. We started buying different starter packs (more on the looks of the miniatures and the themes of the different factions). While navigating through this forum and the spanish one, I read all the "big posts" about the different factions and sectorials, where players described the pros and cons of each miniatures and suggested army lists. Notwithstanding, while these posts were great, I found one of urobros (in Spanish) about the starter of Acontecimento. http://infinitythegame.com/foro/index.php?/topic/6305-empezar-acontecimiento-aqui-hay-una-ayuda/ He listed which units were included and how you could create a 150 point army list with the starter, explaining the different possibilities. Further on, he explained what options were great to expand the starter to 175, 200, 250 and 300 points. I found his topic really helpful and made me decide to ask if there were more posts of this sort. I have not found anything similar (at least pinned). I know there are many veteran players here who have enough experience to help doing something similar. I don't want to impose, just to suggest that if someone would have the time to do something similar, it would be really appreciated by all us newbies who have some trouble in deciding how to expand our starters. We are buying the minis who we think look cool, but there have been some players in my league who have acquired options that do not mix well together (corregidor starter + reverend moiras). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance. And by the way, it is really nice to navigate through this forum. Best, Mephisto Links to the "Expanding your starter" series: - - - - -
