  2. Greetings fellow inhabitants of planet Dawn. I was wondering lately if would you be eager to share your knowledge about any books, movies, video games or music tracks that give you a specific Ariadnan experience. Something that inspired you to pick up your amy's theme, or just made you into playing that faction. Any piece of art or product of game's/movie's industry that make you feel strong Kazak/Mero and, above all, Caledonian vibe is vere welcome here. I can recall that there've been already mentioned on this forum the "Dog Soldiers" movie (very appropriate example) but I'll give a special props for book titles. I apologize in advance if this is no place for this topic, but from quick search it has seemed like a right place to start. Thanks for any responses^^

  4. So I've been in the general miniatures hobby for about four years at this point and I've always had an interesting relationship with the painting aspect of it. I've always gotten compliments on my color choices (I'll post some of my Guard if anyone's curious) but the execution has been... well you saw the title. But recently i got some lessons and tips from a guy in my local area and things have been really improving so in an effort not to get lazy and backslide I'm starting this mostly for myself but hey some people might like to see what I've been doing. without further ado, here's the most recent stuff: Finally, got everything fixed.
  5. Hi everyone. Me and some friends jumped headlong into infinity a couple months ago. I signed on with USAriadna and have been loving the faction so far. Thought I'd finally join the forums here. Lots of really helpful players. got a whole bunch of conversions and unique proxies I want to show off. And this might also help me keep u on my painting. First up is my conversion/custom USAriadnan Blackjack with T2 sniper. Built from an Anvil Industries Ajax and Dreamforge Games Valkyr Power Armor. So excited to get this guy painted up. the chest mines are the shoulder mounted launchers. And I couldn't get a good back photo. But he's got a smg holstered on his back as well. took quite a while to find a model that looked armored enough, not too high tech and a little more slower moving.

(0 | 27) 4.5 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army We started with drawing Classifieds, re-drawing cards that used the HVT. I got Data Scan and Kevin got Telemetry. I won the WIP roll off and decided to make my opponent deploy first as I always have difficulty deploying against Ariadna and their shenanigans. Kevin graciously gives me first turn. My Data Tracker was the Marut, his was the 112. I deployed fairly defensively as my list isn’t designed to punish my opponent’s advance, relying on picking off models in the active turn with the Marut. My officer deployed prone on my left flank, tucked well away in the building. Dakini, Lamedh, Danavas, Yudbot and my Sophotect kept the left flank busy and the Thorakites and another Yudbot (Proxied by the Krakata) hung out on the right. Finally the Marut and her buddy the Myrmidon went down as far forward as possible to start smoking things up. Kevin deployed surprisingly defensive, putting a lot of models behind total cover and prone. A few camo markers went down in cover put covering some lanes, leading me to assume they were his heavy hitters. One camo went down in the square building to my left and another maker also made an infiltrate roll and deployed in the centre building, on the first floor. One hand shake and command token used to stop me using more than one and we were away. I started off by throwing a smoke grenade on top of the crates, advancing the Big Gal and attempting the reveal the camo marker parked on top of the crates, failing the 12 I needed. Another order allowed her to discover a mine that was next to the beacon. My fourth order saw the Myrmidon try his luck at spotting the marker the Marut couldn’t see, again failing. The Marut advanced, shooting the mine with 2 orders to no avail, the mine passing 3 saves on 19’s. She decided to Discover another token on the left flank hiding behind some barrels, unveiling a bundle of sticks with a tarp pulled over them. Tanking the mine and moving behind the building with Armand on top, Kevin revealed a Chasseur reacting by forward observing the Marut but received an exploded head for its trouble. She eventually climbed up, shrugging off a Stun shot from Armand but taking a wound from the 112’s LSG. Couple of orders trying to take the 112 and Armand down led to her taking another wound from Armand’s breaker pistol and a wound on Armand and the 112 finally going down. Kevin started his turn by moving a camo marker that was on the same balcony the 112 was, I decided to delay and it kept moving. With my suspicions moving to a tank hunter trying to get out of 8”, he moved it again and surprise shot my Marut, she responded by flaming him but got hit by both shots, passing 5 of her 6 saves, putting her to Unconscious. The Tank hunter also melted away, failing both his saves but getting the job done (This model never fails Kevin). Armand, seeing a downed TAG decided that spending 2 orders to snap it’s neck was a good way to make sure she didn’t come back. The camo marker that the Myrmidon and Marut failed to discover reveals itself to be a Spetsnaz HMG and surprise shot the Zayin, taking it down while the Myrmidon threw a smoke grenade out to cover himself and the Netrod. Dog Warrior moves up a little and the Spetsnaz re cammos. With my turn coming around and down to 8 orders, I combine order with the Dakini, Sophotect and Myrmidon, moving up to get in place for ARO’s and covering an advance with smoke. Myrmidon then spends a few orders smoking a path to the beacon, grabbing it and running alllll the way back to my deployment zone and into the building on my right, dropping prone and clutching the beacon. My last order goes to combine suppressing with the Dakini, Sophotect, Thorakites and Danavas. Kevin bursts out of the gates with his Dog Warrior, smoke dodging everything the Sophotect and Dakini can throw at him. Spotting that these suppressors can be picked off before the Dog Warrior moves further, Kevin picks Armand up and picks off both targets with ease. Dog Warrior tips his beanie to Armand and runs to pick up the Beacon, running back behind the building with the Satellite Array and combining an order to move the Unknown Ranger, Armand and the Camo Token nearest me to better positions. Seeing that I don’t have anything heavy enough to pick off the dog warrior, I decide to try and hack a model for Data Scan. The Danavas spends an order climbing up the building she was against, managing to avoid any ARO’s. She then shot 2 Pitchers only god knows where needing 8’s to get them close enough. The last one sticks however, leaving me with 2 orders to scan the Dog Warrior. The dog warrior resets the first attempt and the second attempt is a miss, leaving me with at best a draw. Kevin starts with 7 orders, cancelling his impetuous with one as we weren’t sure if I could ARO with Data Scan (We confirmed after that I can’t, but wanted to be sure). Armand moves over to see the Danavas and smokes her, allowing the Dog Warrior to stroll on to his DZ. Van Zant makes an appearance, coming in on my right hand table edge, near the Myrmidon (Now in the foetal position). He starts moving towards his prey, bursting his head through the door like that scene from the shining, the Myrmidon throws smoke and puts his faith in his ODD, both sides critting and bringing an end to the game. Then Kevin started measuring how close the Myrmidon was to my edge and all I could taste was salt. Half an inch from it being a draw. Result - 4-3 to Ariadna Reflections · I really need to stop pushing the Marut in the first turn. I’ve lost her this way enough times to know that she’s not invincible. Saying that, she did well below average because of the dice, something that Kevin did feel sort of sorry about. · Ariadna aren’t as bad in Limited Insertion as I thought they were. · If you think you’re in your deployment zone and the game rests on it, spend that extra order to make sure.

  9. Hi all, I'm having some difficulty getting the colors of the Ariadna Body armor just right. Soldiers like the 5th Min. Ohio or some of the Rangers have this Body Armor chest. I have been trying to get the 'Beige' color just right but every time it either ends up too brown, or too white. Anyone have a good color guide to get it just right like the official minis?   10. I'm sure some of you guys have heard of tabletop simulator. For those of your who haven't it is a pretty great little tool to play just about any tabletop game out there for free or close to free on steam. Recently I've been using it to play Infinity and it's been pretty great! It's allowed me to try new army lists, new factions and all kinds of terrain setups. I wouldn't of known how much I enjoyed Ariadna without being able to try out their various sectorials in Tabletop Simulator. I've gone from playing infinity every once in awhile to getting almost 20 games in in the last week and a half. One of the only downsides for the moment is that you are gona have to proxy some units. You are going to have to use some units as other units until the models for the various different armies actually come out. That being said it's easy to do since you can just change the name of the model and give it a description while playing and I am currently looking into making models for the various different factions. I would highly recommend getting tabletop simulator if you have a couple of friends to try it out with. It's been a great help to me and has shown me that I might need to get a few more Ariadna miniatures in the near future.
  11. I went through and found out how many female miniatures there were for each army. I was just curious about this and I thought I would share what I found. I included old models just not bootleg versions. The list goes in order from greatest to least. Obviously you should allow for a slight margin of error. Never the less these are the results I came to. Genderless includes tags, remotes and various other things along those lines.   15. So we finally have some miniatures other than the one for operation icestorm in tabletop simulator. This video here will show you how to get involved in all this nonsense. IF you look on the page for the mod you will see the discord server link. This video took way more effort and way more takes than it should of. If you stick to the end there is a really stupid joke that I think only the military order's players will enjoy. What faction would you like to see added or what miniatures would you really like to see here?
  16. Reporting for duty Sirs and ready to defend Dawn against all those filthy thieves! So, finally breaking down and jumping in. Our group has slowly started to play and we are very much still just learning the rules at 150ish points, but I found myself increasingly drawn to Ariadna in general and USARF in particular. The good thing is the host (who is still learning as well) loves the hobby aspect as much as actually playing and as such has a number of models from a number of factions. However, I feel its time to jump in myself, partly to paint, partly to spread the burden so to speak, and partly to enable me to play elsewhere if I wish if the group can't get together, etc., etc. With that, I do have questions. I am leaning toward starting out primarily going straight up USARF, but want to be able to branch into vanilla as well, just likely not looking at going into the other sectorials just yet. So with that, and a limited budget, in mind, I'm curious as to where I should spend my money after the initial purchase of the USARF Big Box (which I can get a pretty good deal on). Van Zant seems obvious and seems like he'd be good even in Vanilla (even just the threat of him). Where else would you look to initially though? Obviously, for the near future, we'll still be playing at around 150 points, so the box set will keep me set for a while as I learn those models, but as I'm slow as molasses when it comes to painting, I would be interested in at least lining up future purchases and hopefully getting an idea as to what works fairly well. Additionally, what do you recommend (both in USARF and in vanilla) for dealing with TAGs? One of the players in our group has a particular fondness for the TAGs and so I expect he'll frequently want to run one. Last time(not against me) he pretty much just used the TAG to wipe to floor of his opponent. I'm guessing when we start doing the missions that might become a problem, but with the limited list I ran last time, I'm not sure exactly how to get around his arm semi-reliably. Granted the list was far from ideal but still. I hear a lot of talk of using antipodes but I fear they might get torn to shreds just trying to reach the TAG (opponent deployed his TAG on a rooftop last time -- which I'm assuming is valid). Hopefully this doesn't sound like a whine because its not meant to be. I figure we have answers, just want to see what other people's solutions are. At any rate, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

In preparation for Australia's biggest Infinity tournament this weekend, I've pulled out the finger and am planning to smash out a 20 man FRRM army in quick order. I'll try to update this once a day leading up to the tournament. Wish me luck! I was wondering what to do for the bases and a friend suggested making them as cliche as possible. So they will be painted to represent a black and white tiled bistro floor with discarded baguettes, croissaints and pain au raisins scattered everywhere. Why the bases? They were relaxing over a casual breakfast/brunch when called into battle The Dogs will be camo markers The whole family! Let's not forget le chien. Will continue to update over the next few days!   19. Sometimes my friends have told me they would prefer it if the military orders weren't a thing or weren't a part of panoceania. Sometimes I have seen similar feelings posted on this forum. So I just thought I would ask " What would you replace the Military Orders with if you could?" If there is any other sectorial you'd like to replace go ahead and list them as well. If you think they should stay right where they are you can feel free to make your case as well.
  20. Someone I know suggested the idea that yu jing and pan o could unite to take over the entire sphere. I wanted to know what you guys thought. Is it possible for these two to unite? Would it make sense? Would it work? Would haqq or the other sphere powers find a way to stop them or at least put up a fight? It should be brought up Yu Jing and Pan O have fought together before against the combined but that isn't quite the same thing as a temporary all out alliance to fight other parts of the sphere.

With another tournament having come and gone, with prizes being won and crits being dished out left right and center, it's time to get back to shifting stuff from the mountain of unpainted metal into the (much smaller!) painted pile. With that, Korina did me a HUGE favour and worked up this bad boy up in time for the event: As you can see, he's brought a big gun and a bad attitude to the party, and boy did it show in the five round event! Korina took it one step further for her first Nomad mini, and put together a comprehensive write-up of how she went about putting this awesome paintjob together. My biggest concern right now is 24 orders turn 1 (likely to be significantly less by turn 2) in a timed tournament setting. I play fast (faster than I should sometimes) so I don't think it should be a problem...but I also don't want to be a jerk. Thanks in advance!
  24. Self-explanatory title. The unit in question is a Wardriver (Def Hacking Device - 17pts, 0.5swc). I'm wondering if in ITS tournaments, it's better to just fully commit to no hackers when playing Ariadna and just "double-down" on the other really good units and specialists. For me, its a case of opportunity cost - that 17pts and 0.5swc could be instead: 1. An Inferior inflitrating Grunt (11pts, 0.5swc) and a Highlander (6pts) 2. A Line Kazak (9) and an Imrhandino (8) To name just two. You get the idea. Having not had much experience in ITS tournaments or missions, my VERY theoretical take on the Wardriver would be that it is just a glorified backline bodyguard. I could see potential utility in Fairydust since I am considering using a Blackjack, but if I took out the Wardriver, I could easily redistribute the points to get another Spetsnaz HMG and more skirmishers/warbands by dropping the Wardriver and Blackjack. Also, I am aware of the existence of the ALIVE group and also Mcgregor, but I have a thing about not using named characters so they're out ("Building your own narrative...i guess). It's a weird restriction but it's one I'm committed to. Anyway would appreciate feedback on how valuable Wardrivers are in ITS. Is it worth just dropping the mandatory hacking objectives (if you roll it on Highly classified, etc) to just double-down on the tremendous strengths of Ariadna in its board control and warbands? Thanks in advance.
