  1. So I've played half-a-dozen games or so and I've had a blast. I've had a lot of luck with the Spetsnaz and Vet Kazak and lists like this. I've got the Grey and a T2 Wulver though, and I'd like to throw them in a list. I'm not sure what role either of them replace since I feel like I "need" everything in this list. I'm sure I've locked myself in a very narrow mindset and I need a snap out of it. I've Ive enjoyed camo a lot and the couple Of time I've tried things like that don't have camo, they die in one turn. 2. I was just wondering if anyone has taken the extra effort to convert any Caledonian models to represent specialists such as the "112 Emergency Service", or the "Dozers" to give them a more Highlander-feel. I just find it a little disjointed looking at a CHA where there's a sea of kilts and angry Scots, broken up by some guy in a raincoat with a fireaxe, and I am curious if anyone else feels the same, and may have done something about it. I'm mostly fishing for ideas for myself, as I do want to make use of them rules-wise, but I want to maintain a more unified feel.
  3. Hi all. I've been watching infinity with adoration from afar for about a year, mostly from the Beasts of War Ariadna week. I've long had my eye on the starter box to get beginning playing as Werewolves, firemen and minutemen drew me to the faction in the first place. Luckily through my prompting I've managed to get four other people to split the starter boxes between them cunningly leaving Ariadna free for me. My dilemma though is the start up cost. I can get the USAriadna full box and get the dice and their rules, and a lot of the stuff I'd need for a Rangers force. I want Van Sandt because he's so cool, however, the Caledonian box is half the price and I also like the look of them. The SAS being a big selling point. If I go Caledonian I can start soon, if I go Foxtrot Rangers I will have to wait but the box is great. What would you all recommend? (Pretty sure there isn't a Kazak box 😉)
  4. Hello! I'm still quite new to infinity, and when I started, I had the immensely hard choice of whether to start a Military Order army, or a CHA army (my two historical interests are Catholic military and Scottish military history). I chose MO, for a couple of reasons, one of which was that I was given the Fr Knight from Icestorm, and in any case they would be much cheaper to start with, and therefore less of a loss if I didn't like infinity. As it turns out I *really* like infinity, and want to get my CHA list started!! So, good people, please can you tell me the sort of 300pt ITS list I might make combining some of the following elements: - Wallace (I already have my conversion planned: my model is going to be Sir William Wallace, using a MO knight as base, and painting on the Wallace heraldry onto him - he's going to be great). Also, I've been having lots of fun using Joan's inspiring leadership. - McMurrrough and Cameronian(s). I have half an idea to use Wallace's coordinated order on these guys to get them moving up with big efficiency - Highlanders. Because 6pt regular orders and smoke! Don't get that in MO... - Wulvers, these guys look awesome, and I got to get my two wound fix from somewhere Want at least a Haris, but I'd also like to try the full-on 5-man link with Wallace. - Uxia and SAS. Because they're motherducking SAS. - Volunteer link with AP HMG Scots Grey. This is probably the closest thing in the list to what I am familiar with. Using a five-man link to boss losers with a B5 +3BS HMG. - Caterans? Because sticking a load of T2 sinpers in good ARO positions, and using their orders thanks to Wallace seems pretty powerful.... - Scots Guard. Because ... my sister thought they looked cool and got me a box for my Birthday... Right, that's a lot of stuff. Won't be able to fit all of that in 300 - so please just give me your best ideas. Looking forward to see them!! Thanks, V. P.S. How's this for a starter? 6. I have been thinking of starting a 150 point Rapid Response Force due to my love of the Loup-Garou sculpts. However, I have run into a problem regarding the color scheme of my future force. Ariadna is not like the other factions of Infinity when it comes to painting. Everyone else has armor/hi-tech which can be done in sometimes outrageous color combos and look good. Since the Ariadnians are plain it has been giving me trouble thinking of an unique way to paint them. So what do you guys and gals paint your Ariadna sectorial/vanilla? Is it possible to paint Ariadna in colors that would work on the other hi-tech armor factions? Any pics, paint recipes and advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  7. Greetings, I have been somewhat out of the game for an extended period primarily due to stupid reasons, and I'm starting to get back into it with my Caledonians. I have a significant number of them, and I'm trying to find where I can get good results. To give you an idea of how decidedly average my compositions have been, I direct you to this thread Can you tell I'm used to basing things around specialists? I'm a long time AP Sniper/Autocannon sort of guy. So I have two lists I'm really digging based on my research and reading since my ignominious defeats. The first list is based around a full Scots Guard link. I dig the models, and I have them all as well, The second is more Wulver/Highlander based, again with the vast majority of models acquired. I'm not in a position where I have a readily accessible supplier of a lot of models, I basically have to order from another country to get things. Right, first list. I'm honestly much more inclined towards the first list. It seems more consistent on the link with better support. Wulvers are very expensive, yet I feel they work best in a good sized link. It's hard to theory craft a bunch of this without input though, so commentary HUGELY appreciated.
  8. Thank you for many advices. Now I'm learning more. I changed concept. I made two groups for separate rolls. Please give me more advices. They will intercept enemy specialists. I think impetuous orders will make troubles. But they can fight alone very well and have smoke to protect them. ------------------ CATERAN T2 Sniper Rifle CATERAN T2 Sniper Rifle ------------------ they will stay back and watch for AROs. Group 2 : To perform missions. ------------------ S.A.S. (Forward Observer) S.A.S. (Forward Observer) ------------------ these two SAS will perform missions. They avoid enemies to focus on missions. ------------------ UXÍA McNEILL (Covert Action) ------------------ If things goes well, she will hunt enemy cheerleaders. 9. I'm a newbie about to start Infinity libing at Seoul, Korea. A friend of mine in the gameclub are going to run a boot camp. And I'm considering to start Caledonian army. My experience are a few tutorial games with PanOceania starter. I checked the Unit profiles and got advice from friends(also newbies). And I made a concept army list. So I want to hear any advice. I don't have idea whether this will work or not. weak points and What to fear about. Also, I don't have these models. If it will work, I'll buy one by one to complete. and adjust list while keeping concept. My main idea is TRAKTOR MUL. It's MRL is inaccurate but powerful. I think number of fire can cover it's weakness. when I do speculative fire, it's BS is down to 4 and usually it will be 1. But with lucky shot, I think I can hope a few lucky shot each turn. Because this list contains 2 group of volunteer & traktor mul with 10 orders each. and 4 Cateran snipers will try to kill any enemy in sight. If enemy comes through the frontline, William will lead his highlander linked team. This is my concept. Please feel free to say any. It will help me a lot. 10. Hey Everyone, First time posting. Relatively new player here. I bought a Caledonian Highlander Army that's, a bit silly honestly, but I enjoy playing it. Anyway, trying to figure out how Wallace Affects the 45th Highlander Rifles exactly, with all of his abilities. Based on what I've read, I "think" this is what he does. Wallace can create a link team with up to 4 45th Highlander Rifles, which they normally cannot do (Paradisio Rules) -Wallace makes anyone in this link team Not Impetuous, and Wallace himself loses Frenzy as per normal Link Team Rules Wallace makes all troops in his army list Regular instead of Irregular due to Inspiring Leadership (They inherit his training state only, not his Frenzy State based on the rules I think) Wallace gives all troops in his army list V: Courage due to Inspiring Leadership -Have a specific question about this. Since the 45th Highlander Rifles already have V: Dogged, I think V: Dogged also includes all the benefits of V: Courage. Does this mean this power is forfeit with the 45th Highlander Rifles, or does this stack in some way? If it stacks, does that mean the 45th Highlander Rifles get to have V: No Wound Incapacitation? And I think that's it? Just wanting to confirm. Thanks Everyone! -OddWalrus
  11. Hello everyone! I am looking to get into Infinity and decided to start an Ariadna army. The hard part I am having is deciding on a starter pack. Both of the Ariadna starters have great looking models. I am also planning on picking up an Antipode assault pack as I love werewolves. So to make a long story short which starter pack would have best with synergy an Antipode assault pack?

  13. Greetings all. I'm a veteran gamer who, along with some other local gamers, is looking at getting into Infinity. We've played a couple intro games, as well as thrown together a trial list or two and played some larger games with proxies. After spending some time looking at the various factions, one of those I'm most interested in in the Caledonian Highlands (due primarily to their aesthetics), however, I do have some concerns about playing them. Perhaps my biggest worry is Caledonian Volunteers and the 45th Galwegians. Now I understand that much of their appeal is their price, particularly when using chain rifles (which also negates their awful BS), but is there a use for a more standard rifle loadout? In addition, the Galwegians seem to be geared towards running toward enemy lines to take advantage of cheap chain rifles, very respectible CC abilities, and AP CCWs, but what about the Volunteers? Is it worth giving up the CC skill and melee weapon for regular status? Are they simply used to flush out combat groups and provide actions for more dangerous and competant troops, are they more useful running down the lines with cheap chain rifles (in which case, why not use Galwegians?), or do they have another use I'm missing (ie: perhaps their lack of Extremely Impetuous?)? And in the case of the former, why not use Galwegians with William Wallace to similar effect? Second, the Caterans: I've often heard these guys lauded as some of the finest snipers available to Ariadnans, but I'm not convinced. With the limitations on their camo, lack of infiltration, and unimpressive BS, I would have serious reservations about them simply being taken out by more skilled snipers from the other factions. That said, I do really like their rifle, and the model is certainly beautiful, I just need help seeing why this guy comes with so high a reputation. I notice a lack of love for the Cameronians, and I wonder why. Here are some beasts that scream battlefield horrors to me - and at a bargain price! Obviously, given their size and impetuousness, making use of terrain to screen their advance is the tricky part, but they seem at least a little resilient, and once within CC or even just chain rifle range, they are going to become walking nightmares for their enemies. Am I missing something, or are they just a bit underused? It should probably be said that no one needs to sell me on the SAS, Mormaers, Wulvers, Greys, or Scots Guards, as they just make me smile. But finally, I want to discuss the possibility of running the Caledonians without Wallace: put simply, can it be done (and well), or is a tactical blunder to even consider it? The most obvious use that I can see would be to take advantage of the crazier elements of the army that enjoy their Impetuous status, but is there a way to play a more balanced list without Wallace to keep them organized? Thanks to all in advance.
  14. I just picked up William Wallace. I love the dogs (Dog-Warriors, Cameronians, Antipodes, etc). I am thinking about running a CHA list with Wallace as Lt, with the max AVA of 3 Cameronians and Mc Murrough. Obviously I am looking to use capitalize on Wallace's Inspiring Leadership to turn the dogs' Irregular Orders into Regular Orders, to give me back the flexibility I need. I am sure I am not the first person to run a list like this, so with the exception of Wallace as an obvious Lt, what other problems could I face with this type of list? Any suggestions or comments about what to use to fill in the rest of a list (ITS/N3 Missions, 300 points) would be great too!
  15. So having played a lot of Yu Jing and a decent amount of Haqq I turned my attention to CHA a few nights ago. A little background. When I first started Infinity, the apples of my eye were YJ and Ariadna. I have been waiting for the Scots box to be released and collecting an Ariadna model here and there. I got tired of waiting for the Scots and got a box of Wulvers. So the other night I ran CHA for the first time. 16. So I picked up a Caledonian starter box, and have a Cateran en route, which is conveniently 150 points. Any suggestions?
