I've recently started playing Morats (largely because I can actually see the models to paint them!), find they're making a refreshingly straightforward change to my usual Pan O lists, and have a couple of questions for those more experienced in the path of Direct Brutality. I like playing at least one AD: Combat Jump troops in my Pan O lists, ideally to run some tactical interference, but I'm always happy to just trade some orders out of my opponent's back line if there's nothing else available. The reckless charge does seem like a very Morat thing to be doing, so how do Rasyat's play in Morat or CA lists; what uses do people find for them. Finally, do we know if there's any chance of a new design; I don't think anything was announced at Vigo this year? The sculpting of the Sogarats is one of the best in the game (not to mention that whole 'solid lump of pewter' feeling when you're marching them around ) but the same really can't be said for the Rasyats, sadly.

  3. Hey everyone! I found myself becoming more interested in Infinity so my friends and I thought we would give it a shot. I selected CA as I love the bad guys. I could really use some help on what models to get after purchasing the CA starter set. Im still reading the rules and doing my research, but i can't tell you the hours and days I have lost due to buying/painting meaningless models in 40k. I thought i would ask and at least get some direction on where to go next. I understand there are multiple sectorials though i am still not sure how all of that works. I'm also not a huge fan of the Morats.. but i understand if the models are essential to success. What to buy next? Thanks for your help!! It is greatly appreciated!
  4. I wanted to paint something different after my PanO force, which has grey as the primary color. First, I thought about Tohaa, but finally I decided to try CA instead. I always liked the organic designs of the range, and even though the new Morat miniatures are quite nice, I wanted to leave these and their style out of the mix and concentrate on the creepy-crawlies instead. As a color scheme, I wanted to try something new, and I'm very happy how it turned out: I wanted to paint the armor plates in the color of iridescent green chitin, like that of flesh flies or certain bugs. As a contrast, the rest was done in relatively dull greys and tans. On the Asuwang I experimented a bit with "bristles" painted on these parts to help with an insectoid look. I also had to learn the lesson that matte varnish really messes up the nice metallic chitin effect, and could not rescue it with gloss varnish either. I think I'll brush matte varnish on the non-chitinous parts in the future, and either gloss the metallic areas or leave them without varnish. Next one is a remote. That was always one of my favourite Infinity models, and I hurried to grab some of the old ones before they were updated to the new, more robotic looking model. My ink-based chitin technique is harder to pull off on these large areas, so I tried to liven it up a bit with some painted speckles and bumps. The result looks ok, but I think in the end I like it better without. And the last one so far is a slave drone, I also like the little buggers very much. The paint job was pretty straightforward here, the hardest thing was to decide where to stop painting green and start with grey, since this model does not have any real "organic" parts. With the glowing eyes, he reminds me a bit of the evil octopus robots from the "matrix" movie...

  6. After a lot of different colour schemes for my CA models I came up with something I like and painted some models in those colours, quite like the results. First take - Unidrons Then Ikadron and a Maakrep: And the most recent model - Overdron There's something with uploading images on the forum, for some reason it rejects some of pics, I'm going to try to add more angles if anyone would be interrested. As for colours - I do a long and somewhat boring process of preshading the model highliting it from dark grey to white, and then do something like glazing/wash to add colours. green colour is a mixture of Vallejo blue and yellow ink, and with Overdron I added a bit more blue to the mix so it's darker than Unidrones, Muscle fibres are a mixture of blue ink and black colour. and that orange is vallejo fluo orange, it is also used to drybrush the base. and as for texture it is a black greenfield bagged tea, I really like effect of an alien ground/moss it creates. I also paint some stuff for my Pano friend from time to time.
  7. Hi everyone! For some reason when it comes to finding a color scheme for Infinity armies I struggle much more than say, 40K, where most of the time I like the 'original' colors. I'm still not happy with the individual units but I'm VERY happy with the bases. We don't actually have a jungle table but I didn't want to do plain old city/city ruins. Went and found a fantastic (if time-consuming) tutorial for jungle bases and finally have taken the time to snap a good pic. Hope you enjoy. PS: Further down theres a WIP of Sheskiin where I'm kind of stuck - I love her skin and face and eyes, but don't know how to carry on. i like the grey armor/suit, too, but its all a bit plain now, any suggestions?
  8. So we finally have some miniatures other than the one for operation icestorm in tabletop simulator. This video here will show you how to get involved in all this nonsense. IF you look on the page for the mod you will see the discord server link. This video took way more effort and way more takes than it should of. If you stick to the end there is a really stupid joke that I think only the military order's players will enjoy. What faction would you like to see added or what miniatures would you really like to see here?

  10. Yesterday an idea started developing in my head, maybe for a little shortstory even and I started looking for all the fluff bits on the Fraacta that have appeared somewhere. There is a bit in the RPG corebook, the bit of text on the Infinity homepage from when the boarding shotgun model was released, couldn't find anything in HSN3... so: Please tell me about all bits of Fraacta fluff you know about and where to find them! I'd appreciate it for example: I seem to remember something about a human farmer or whatever being murdered by an alien drop-trooper for bothering them... Might have been a Tohaa instead of a Fraacta though, I can't for the live of me remember where I read that text...

  12. Hello there! This is my 1st post here, so it will serve both as the starting point for my Morat -blog and an introduction of sorts. A few weeks ago a lot of my friends suddenly shifted their interest towards Infinity. We have all played different miniature games for as long as we can remember, and usually when this sort of thing happens a lot of us go all in. This time it was no different. At least 10 of us now, all either ordered their armies or all ready received them. I really dug the look and feel of the Morats, and decided I would get a nice group of them. About a week ago I received my miniatures and I was itching to crack on with them. First week results you can see in this 1st post, but I will try and add stuff every week if I can, untill I feel I am done. So. Lets start. First off, here is a rather standard Axe-wielding Daturazi. I really like this model, and felt tilting him forwards with a base design adds to the aggressive stance. I chopped the axe a bit, since I felt it looked a bit unwieldy. Next, this guy had a little more done to him. Another Datu, but I wanted him to dual-wield swords. Nothing too fancy, just some minor sculpt work to get the arm to fit the socket. I really wanted to go all-Morat, so I needed an engineer. The old Kurgat models did not convince me, but I found a Kurgat conversion from these forums somewhere (sorry that I cant give better credit where credit is due - a nice idea!) and I had to do the same. Its basically the Raktorak model from the Agressor-box but I used a dremel to carve out some of the armour from the torso to make room for the shotgun arms of a Daturazi. I also added the loin cloth from a Datu. Need to go back and greenstuff some minor problems, like the butt of the shotgun and the loincloths connection to the groin. I guess here it gets interesting? I was trying to figure out what to do with an unarmed Datu, and while browsing the list builder I started to zoom in on the Spec Ops Morat. Not really knowing the rules behind them, I looked them up and realised I really want one. More accurately, I wanted a Rambo. I used the spare torso from a Datu combined with the spare arms from the Raktorak model, but replaced the gun with a HMG from the vanguard box. The trickiest part was to carve the support hand from the HMG, as I wanted him to sport that gun with a single hand. I also wanted a bayonet. I am from the 80s and I can not help myself. I also removed the beard with a dremel before I started to sculpt details like the pouches and leg bag. Also needed to add some muscle to the arm joints to make them fit. I love this guy. Last but not least from the first 5, I wanted to make a medic. I decided to use the spare vanguard torso and the support arm. Again I raided the Datu box for the gun arm. I was thinking of using the unclenched hand from the Datu's too, but decided against it and sculpted the missing hand together with a medipack. Also added some other details, like the leg bag and the shoulder armour for the naked arm. I feel the Doc came out more badass than I was thinking, but I am glad he did. So yeah! That is my 1st week done. So far I am LOVING it. Cant wait to get painting. Hope you fellas dig what I have come up so far. - M
  13. Long story short, I decided to stop playing unpainted miniatures and upgrade to a full wargaming experience. I play Infinity for mere 3 years and my enthusiasm began to exhaust (generally because I play MAF and don't win a lot). I decided to reboot and to start anew my Combined Army. This thread is made for selfreport and a bit for motivation. Day 0 So, my aim is to have a full painted (and I hope more competitive) CA set of models and starting point to play Onyx sectorial when it would be released. Here is a set of boxes to begin with. From MAF starter only Vanguards would be used. Vanguards have been already assembled and their bases magnetised. I play them a lot. Both as base link of Vanguards and as Rodoks proxies (when 2ed Vanguards proxy Rodoks 1ed Vanguards play Vanguards). All other miniatures are untouched, Avatar laying in a box for two years. Oh, almost forgot! I use proxies for Medcanoid, his helperbots, Ikadrons and Imetrons. They will also get a bit of attention. Day 1 Clean and assemble CA starter. Nothing special here. Day 2 Clean two boxes of battle drones. That was tough. "The Expansion" series helped a lot to not become annoyed with repetitive work (4 pairs of legs, 4 bodies and heads, 10 arms)/ Day 3 Fraacta got her jumpack magnetised and all other miniatures dot their bases decorated with Vallejo's Black Lava. Day 4 Primed all miniatures and bases that were ready at that moment. Speculo joins the project. Three layers of Vallejo's Light Ghost Grey primer applied with airbrush. Day 5 and 6 Assemble and magnetise remotes' arms. This is a hard piece of precious work. "The X-files" and "John Whick" entertained me but work is not done so far. Nothing to photo yet. Day 7 A rest day. Had to refresh before weekend. "Jodorowsky's Dune" impressed, frightened and inspired me a lot. A must for all people here. Comments are welcome. Stay tuned!
  14. Hi all, I recently lucked into a pretty big Combined Army lot through trades, tending more towards Morat. Wanting a challenge after a hot winning spree as ALEPH, I decided to lock into Morat Aggression Force for a bit. Now I'm on a 4 game losing spree and want to know: How do people use Vanguards? The lot included the Morat Starter and the Vanguard SWC box, and I have Anyat from a Dire Foes purchase. I really want to use em I've struggled to make them work either defensively or offensively. Their BS feels too low to leave up as ARO threats, and they're so gosh darn expensive feeling (My primary faction is Pan O, I miss Fusiliers) for a basic link team. Unsurprisingly, the Hollow One onboard the Forerunner had a little plan of its own, so we had to send a drone out with some false information. From the chatter that the carrier ships picked up, the hogwash the Hollow One cooked up sent the meatbags running like newborn Dorlanak... The dishonorable demeanor of these meatbags disgusts me, as I'm sure it does you. Take that hatred and make them pay for their weakness with blood! Here are the latest assignments for the regiments on the Zolak, Tortak and Vertak carriers: Karaktak, Pride of the Fireborn: We will pick up some of the Hollow Ones and also two Legates to show them how we deal with the changeling meatbags. I like hunting these Bekartak! It looks so disgusting and awkward when they change from their usual meatbag selves into their warforms. They are still no match for our Daturazi! Vokartak, Hammer of the First Age: My esteemed brethren, you are honored to take the fight to the slaver meatbags. I trust you will show them that their mechanical toys are no match for the power of the Morat Supremacy! I long to hear their anguish when their skulls crunch under your Sogarat boots!   16. I took a break from painting my ALEPH miniatures and started painting the Combined Army Starter Pack for a friend of mine. The first miniature I've completed is Fraacta, the Trihedron Drop Unit: I love the look of this miniature. So menacing and cool. It was extremely fun to paint.
  17. Hey everyone! I was just hoping to chat with some of the more experienced players and tournament goers about how to handle my first ITS tournament. I'm mostly looking for some tips and guidelines on good gameplay practices so that I can be a good opponent for anyone I play and maybe some ideas for my lists. I play Onyx Contact Force and am pretty easy going. I was thinking of taking a list with a tag (or three ) and one without. The missions are Comms Center, Tic-Tac-Toe, and Highly Classified at 300 points. I've only played with a handful of people in my community so this will be a big change for me. Thanks in advance for any and all help you guys can offer, and may the dice be in your favor!

Playing Infinity intensively during its second edition and painting loads of miniatures on the way, I've been very stoked delving into the new edition some weeks ago, with updated rules and story background as well as a lot of new sculpts! At the moment, the game really has me in its grip and I totally fell in love with it, again. What I do like most about this game? Besides the complex and elaborated rules, the fast-paced action, the interesting story, and art, it is by far the miniatures! The sculpts are without comparison, so much detail, such great design! Because of my passion for the hobby, I'd like to share my work with you and can't wait for your feedback! After finishing my Shasvastii Haiduk with Multi Sniper Rifle, I took some time taking pictures of all the Infinity Shasvastii models I've painted so far. Hope you like it! I think I'm going to add a Gwailo with Heavy rocket launcher long term because I would love to play a fireteam of Cadmus-Naish Agent Sheskiin with 2 Gwailos Next projects will be Onyx! Can't wait for it! I'm pretty excited playing the Morat Rodoks Fireteam with one Umbra Legate Hacker for support. Have you tried it and what's your experience?   20. Hi all So in other game systems I played, we always created 'versus' or 'match up' threads on the forums. Basically how does your faction match up against another faction, and what tactics have you found effective against their common tricks/tactics. I was hoping we could start off such a thread by discussing Combined army, since I am playing them on Thursday evening and have no idea what to expect. I know he likes TAGs and his shasvastii. I have read their unit profiles, but I have no idea how they will perform on the table. PS. If there are such threads on the forum, I couldn't find them. It would be appreciated if you could just link them here.
  21. I as recently playing mgs v and language is a big theme in the game. You need translators so you can interrogate enemy soldiers from around the world. This got me thinking about how motherbase would actually work and whether or not they would have their own common language that soldiers would be expected to speak or understand to enable communication. What I started to wonder after that was whether or not empires like panoceania and yu jing would have their own common language so that people from different parts of the sphere could communicate in a military setting.Is there any information on what the lingua franca for something like pan o would be? I would assume English but that may be wrong. If not how do armies with a huge variety of languages actually communicate?

  23. Hey all, started infinity about a year ago, loving the game, and really enjoying the Onyx releases! Here are a couple minor conversions I've been working on in the last few weeks. Hopefully these photos work, having trouble with the file upload so doing BBCode. The Chartontids (cut and reposed the "high five" hand, and cut and reposed the wide leg pose, remove the stomping victim) Overdron with HRL (Heavy Rocket Launchers made from T Drone arms - I sawed off the dangling arm, and moved a fin from one side of the gun to the other to make an opposite side version). Hard to be impartial about your own work, but I like the overall proportions of this mini over the plasma sniper rifle stock version. R drone with two claw arms (took the dangling lower arm from the T Drone arm, and combined it with the shoulder joint of an Extra Q drone plasma rifle) Hope these inspire some of your own conversions.
