  1. Hello So first post after lurking a long time. I've been painting PanO models for many years now but haven't played since the last edition and even then, only a little. Despite having picked up Operation Icestorm, Beyond Icestorm and some new releases to paint I have no idea whats going in 'in the game' right now, except from what I've read on these forums. I was hoping I could just write out the long list of my PanO collection and someone could help me make a list out of it, or help me with next purchases? I would really like to join in on some games, maybe starting at 150points before jumping to 300. I know people around here tend to play ITS missions and I believe that matters for list building. Also, I know I have a lot of Neoterra sectoral 'basics' and I've seen a lot of lists based around Fusiliers and Swiss Guard etc but I would really like to learn about PanOceania as a vanilla army, no fireteams, before I start to specialize. For what its worth, in the other games I play more frequently, I like to take 'one of this, one of that' and not really 'spam' one troop type over and over again, so I think Vanilla will allow me that. Enough rambling, to the big list... 3x Old Fusilier - Combi Rifle Old Fusilier - HMG 3x Fusilier - Combi Rifle Fusilier - Missile Launcher Fusilier - HMG Fusilier - Sniper Fusilier - Hacker ArmBot - Spitfire ArmBot - Shotgun 4x Dronbots (never built them yet so open options) 2x Auxilia w/Auxbot Nisses - Multi Sniper Orc - Multi Rifle 2x Akalis Sikh - Combi Rifle Akalis Sikh Commando - Boarding Shotgun Akalis Sikh Commando - HMG Akalis Sikh Commando - Hacker Old Swiss Guard - HMG Swiss Guard - HMG Swiss Guard - Missile Launcher Kamau - HMG Bagh Mari - Combi Rifle Bagh Mari - Multi Sniper Father Knight Montessa Knight - Combi Rifle Santiago Knight - Spitfire 3x Acontecimento Regulars - Combi Rifle Acontecimento Regulars - Combi Rifle / Light GL Acontecimento Regulars - Spitfire Acontecimento Regulars - Sapper/Sniper NeoTerra Bolts - Paramedic NeoTerra Bolts - Missile Launcher NeoTerra Bolts - Hacker/Boarding Shotgun NeoTerra Bolts - Multi Sniper NeoTerra Bolts - Spitfire Hexas - Multi Sniper Aquila Guard - Multi Rifle Aquila Guard HMG Croc Man - Multi Sniper Cutter TAG Warcors Palbot I have no idea how I ended up with one Palbot. I plan on picking up the support pack w/ 2 Palbots, machinist and trauma doc this week but not sure where to go from there. Apologies if this kind of collection list drop is 'uncouth' or against the spirit of these forums, but when I look at all my minis I really have no idea where to start because I really have no game experience, save for a few games of N2 years ago. I'm just getting bored with my other tabletop games and infinity is picking up steam again in the area, or so it seems. At least, I know I can always find someone to play with Thanks SOOOO much for any list help or advice! -TorontoGAL-
  2. Haven't "dipped my toe" yet, so to speak. But very much considering starting Steel Phalanx as my second faction. Eventually I will want everything that Steel Phalanx can field. But for entry level, I had thought of getting the starter box, + a few other things to round me out to a 300 point list. After playing around with army for a bit, this is my first attempt at a list. It has a decent spread of specialists (not that we play much ITS here, but it's still nice to be well rounded). Achilles is a points hog, I know, but I really want to get him early on (not having him in this list isn't a dealbreaker however, but then he WILL be one of the first things I pick up when branching out even further). There are a few possible lieutenants in the list, so while Achilles is fantastic at spearheading, I can switch the position around from game to game so my opponents don't get too wise to it. Since the starter came with 3 Thorakitai, but also Eudoros, it seems obvious to do what I have and have both a Myrmidon Enomotarchos and a Thorakitai Enomotarchos. Along with a lone Thorakites and the Agema for long range support, the two fireteams + Achilles make up the "spearhead" (ideally Achilles and the Myrmidons as first wave, Thorakitai as second). I think this is a nice tight little list to start out with. Definitely won't be stuck on it for long, as expansions will probably happen as soon as I have the initally bundle painted. Am I handicapping myself here? Any obvious rookie mistakes? Is 2 Enomotarchos + Achilles = too many eggs in too few baskets? My current faction is Yu Jing, and 80% of my games are vanilla, so I am not used to being this centered around fireteams. Anyway, here is the "first draft" for a "collect and play" list based off the starter box: Steel Phalanx ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 110 1 THORAKITES Submachine gun, Light Rocket Launcher / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 15) THORAKITES Paramedic (Medikit, 360º Visor) Submachine gun, Chain Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 14) THORAKITES Engineer Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 18) ALKÊ Spitfire, Nanopulser / Pistol, CCW. (1.5 | 25) EUDOROS Mk12, Nanopulser, Eclipse Grenades / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 40) MYRMIDON Hacker (Assault Hacking Device) Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW. (0.5 | 31) MYRMIDON Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 26) MYRMIDON Chain Rifle, Nanopulser, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW. (0 | 16) ACHILLES Lieutenant MULTI Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, EXP CCW. (0 | 73) THORAKITES Marksman Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 15) GROUP 21 AGÊMA Marksman Missile Launcher / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 27) 4.5 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army Gah, I already realised the first problem with collecting this list: Either I'm blind, or there are no Thorakites blisters... Would the Spec-Ops (helmeted) pass well enough for a Thorakites with a Marksman Rifle?
  3. Hey All, New player here from Illinois. I'm looking to get started in Infinity on a fairly casual basis and just had a couple of questions. First: The three factions I've narrowed it down to are Pan-O, Ariadna, and Nomads. I'm really only looking to get into one faction at the moment as this is a second wargame for me at the moment and well, funds are a tad limited. My question is about the relative expected play style of the three factions. From what I have seen/read, Pan-O has the advantage of more or less the best technology, often at a relatively cheap price point (list wise), and they especially excel at shooting, but at the cost of having relatively low WIP. Ariadna on the other hand tends to be more of a death by a thousand cuts. Cheap models that have relatively limited technology but can overcome that limitation through numbers (high order count) and being extremely sneaky (lots of camo, AD, etc.). Is that about right, or am I missing something? Realizing of course that these are generalizations. What about Nomads though? How do they play out? I know that they are supposed to have really good hackers, but what else do they bring to the table in terms of play style? Considering that I am more looking to play casually than competitively, I'm not worried per se about overall balance as I figure for my purposes all the factions are relatively balanced. I'm more looking at the overall style. The followup question to the above then is for a player on a limited budget do you recommend sticking to a Sectorial, or going more vanilla. Or does it really matter? I understand the pros and cons of sectorials (individual models can potentially do more in a sectorial at the cost of limiting the models you can choose from) but not sure if the end result can run into a higher financial outlay one way or the other. My gut says it probably doesn't matter a whole lot either way, but obviously I am not as well versed as you fine folks. Either way I'll be building my collection slowly anyway since I'll need to work my way up to 300 point lists (have only played two games so far). Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!
  4. Hey all, I recently took the plunge and started playing Infinity, and picked up a bunch of Haqqislam mostly on the cheap. Here's a list of the models I've picked up. My next purchase planned at this point is the dire foes 6 pack for Leila Sharif, Any help with list making with what I have and/or what I should add next is appreciated.
  5. Basically, what the title says -- how to survive 5-man fireteams with Missile Launchers? I am struggling with those every time when I'm playing with a fellow Nomad player -- whenever he gets to shoot my triads, I am starting to lose models really quickly due to being heavily outperformed as he is usually shooting me with BS16 from distances I cannot react properly.
  6. Hello guys, Newbie Here! Im starting to play with some friends, i will be playing Nomads, so we are buying an Operation Icestorm battle pack (165 point including the reverend healer) but we want to play 200 and 250 points, i really have no idea what else to buy in order to complete the points needed, please HELP ME! The other guys are playing Panoceania, Haqquislam and Yu Jing I've never played Infinity but I used to play WH40K so i dont think i'll have problems.
  7. Hi, after some absence from the Miniature wargaming world, i was considering returning to the Hobby as a whole... i used to play Necromunda (and a few other GW games) and my local hobby group advertises Infinity as one of the games they are actively playing. So i've spend some time looking into the game. Read some rules and whatnot, watched battlereports on youtube and overall Infinity is neck on neck with Malifaux and it comes down to the dreadful cost topic. Now i am not exactly looking to spend as little money as possible... but i am also not really interested in buying a lot of extra models for spare parts. Anyway... to keep it short... I was thinking of starting with this team: Open in Infinity Army Later i would like to expand with Tomcats for an engineer. (The Reverend Moira's are placeholder, i thought to swap them out shock or AP depending on who i am fighting, as they cost the same) .. and i know the Moira's don't seem that well liked (at least according to tactics guides i read on the internet), but i really like the Models and their special ability to reduce people's ability to hit them also seems quite nice. In my head i thought i have the Moira's as strike team to tie down the enemy, even if i cannot link them up, and team 2 as specialists to run objectives with. (Input appreciated) Anyway... as you might can see from the list, not all of them exactly match their weapons with that seems to be sold in the boxes. For example, for the bandit i was thinking of getting this model, quite like the look of her, but she is sold as a hacker, and i would need a light shotgun and an adhesive launcher. I tried to look for it in the store, but there do not seem to be any bit packs being sold. I was thinking of getting the Bakunin Jurisdictional Command and a Nomad Starter pack, but i watched an unboxing and they don't seem to include any alternate gun either. I don't like the Intruder Sniper model, so i was thinking of changing the Grenzer Sniper from the Starter with some greenstuff (or use him unchanged as he looks nice), and the Riotgirl from the other Starter into a Moira (i am not going to buy a 4 pack of models for a single model). I also couldn't find that nifty female Zero model. But yeah, i guess my question is... where do i get extra bits from? Like other guns for the models and such? I assume much like GW you need to represent on the model what they actually can do? Thank you in advance for your time reading this...

  9. I picked up the Icestorm starter set several months ago, and I've been itching to get it painted up and on the table. But more importantly, I've been thinking about how I can expand the set. Since it comes with four characters who can be used by Corregidor, and the idea of a fireteam of Mobile Brigadas has me absolutely tickled pink, I came up with the list at the end of this post. My goal is the purchase a relatively small number of boxes and utilize as many of the purchased models as possible. Can you fine folks make any further recommendations? 10. Hi there, kameraden I've read an abundance of "best faction" and "what to choose" threads and began, at least, roughly understaning the abbreviations. But that's as far as it goes. Upon reflection, I've decided to seek help from our wonderful community and so here I am: making yet another novice thread in hopes for a more personalized help in the matter. If you are taking your time to read this and answer - I wholeheartedly thank you. I am one day deep into the game and I'm in love with the idea. I have some cash lying around to by me-self a box of metal joy and kickass'ity as soon as possible (our local Russian shops are very scarce on this type of entertainment - and expensive - so I'm in a rush, don't want to wait another month or so) I'm one of those people that don't specifically gravitate to one style - I find them all very cool and I would flexibly play any of it. Thing is, I can/want purchase only one and stick to that faction. Which makes the merry-go-round and round in a fine karousel of a continuously shifting opinion. Help me stop the hellish thing! What I want is: for my army to be cunning and packing loads of customization. We may lose in terms of sheer brute power (although have it, when needed, but not rely on it, for Mistress Luck is a damn capricious devka), but win the day through loads of equipment, unique unit abilities, utilizing tricky technological stratagems! I'd have much more blast and genuine joy in bringing my troops to victory through tactics, rather than straightforward gunzerking my way with fair-weather dice rolling. It will bring me much more fun and joy to go along the proceess of playing mind games with my good friend-opponent, even if I let him win at the end of our glorious stand-off, hahah! I challenge you to ask me whatever question! Have a good one, stranger!
  11. On the first of the month I decided im starting Infinity after looking into it for a few years, however I cant decide whether to start Nomads or Aleph. If I was to start Nomads however, I would love to use the Taskmaster model. Both the Bakunin and regular Starter box look beautiful, and although id imagine that the Bakunin starter would be more fluffy (and more interesting) to go with the Taskmaster, but after a quick skiming of the forums here I got the impression that is that Bakunin is subpar in some way (please correct me if this is wrong). Could someone please give me a idea what I would need to get a good 150 point force utilizing the Taskmaser, and excluding the starter box for someone whos just getting into the game? Thanks
  12. Heya So I have a bunch of models and now I'm at the point where I want to make proper lists that I can reuse over time vs sitting 60 min before a game trying to throw something together that "might" work. I've seen numerous times on the forum "It's not your list it's you", but that doesn't help me when I'm not even sure what units compliment each other, what units make good specialists or killers or aro models etc. Our meta tends to play 20x20 300pts and recon 150pts (1 fire team of 3 members, 1 multi wound model for every 3 single wound models, 1 combat group, no characters), so I need to have lists that I can use for that. I'm not averse to proxying and I have a decent number of models that should cover the most popular picks. I haven't played enough games to pin point my exact play style except that I dislike extremely impetuous models. I don't want to be forced to move a model if I don't want to. So kuang shi in a fire team for order generation would be fine, but I'll likely just get them a non-fire team. My meta consists of 35% Yu Jing, 28% Ariadna, 22% Aleph (SP), 10% PanO and 5% secondary armies CA, Nomad Your help will be greatly appreciated
  13. Hi there, the Infinity guys at the club have convinced me to buy in. I like the look and fluff of ALEPH, so here I am. I'm really keen on having plenty of bots. Any advice for someone new? I'll be able to set aside some money to buy 300 points, but cheaper is better as is once off. I'm not looking to be competitive, but I don't want a terrible list either. I have no experience to speak of, so would you please be as kind as to weigh in for me? More to do with the models than how the list is put together. The starter seems obvious and I really want rebots (they look cool); after that I'm not sure if I shoulf go for more tacbots or the support pack? I've read through a few guides here and elsewhere, and wanted to include a few of the beasts (Surda/Mutan and the Symbiomates) that initially made me want to play Tohaa. 17. Hey everyone, I stopped playing just as N3 came out. I was slightly disappointed at N3 release that the human sphere wasn't being updated and was a separate rulebook. It made learning the game difficult, having to cross reference. I see the new human sphere book is out and my group is looking to pick up a new game. Have the rules been cleaned up a bit/been made more clear? Any big changes that I should be aware of? Thanks!

I have my first two purchases ( THRASYMEDES and the lmtd edition Achilles) and am going to get the remainder items soon but wanted a direction to go. Thanks for your help and I'm excited to be part of the faction!
  19. So small picture report of my newbie adventures with analog brush (all comments/tips/notifications are more than welcome). I know it's not much, but it's as much as I could do during "fatherly leave" in 2 weeks.
  20. Not too familiar with Tohaa but wanted to see if this was something that would work. Having used Bashi Bozouk's over the weekend I thought Kotail's would be fun. If I am looking at this correctly, the Kael's can form a triad with the Kamael and it can still hack thanks to the upcoming rules. Kotails can copy the Chaksa or Clipso. Cute bomb dudes go with who I feel they need too at the time. The Auxiliar is just kind of extra, and I believe the Rasail'sa re dropping in points? So that could be replaced with something. 21. Hello Ariadna forums! I've recently picked up Operation Icestorm to get into the hobby with my wife. Learning is a ton of fun and she was super down to play PanO so I figured I would go Nomads to learn and see where I wanted to go from there. So far so good, few games under the belt, enjoying the hell out of the game However I am just not really feeling Nomads, aesthetically. Painting is kind of the best part of the hobby for me. I went through the entire CB store and made notes on models I liked. I have kind of narrowed it down to Ariadna and Haqqislam. Without further ado, the list and some questions. ARIADNA! Kazaks - love how Stalker-ish they are without being "FUG YEAH, AMERICA" Devil Dog Teams - Werewolf-alien-dudes. With knives. Sweet. Dog-Warriors - that theme continues. I like painting fur. Antipode Assault Packs - Etc etc Caledonian Mormaer - HATE the tartan guys, but Mormaers are kind of Jin-Roh and I appreciate that. Briscards - Love aesthetics, love Frenchness F.R.R. Merovingienne Sectorial Starter Pack - same thing Loup-Garou (YES) (SO MUCH YES) Metros - I feel I'd have lots of fun painting these guys Zouaeves - Gritty. I also played a faction big on movement shenannigans and druids and wolfy stabby bits in another wargame I will not mention that rhymes with Score-Lasheen. I hear Ariadna does that, but I also only kind of like the models listed above so I don't know if I would gimp myself by only fielding these (and probably some USArf, if I absolutely NEEDED to) Then again... Haqqislam has Govads and Naffatun, and I adore their hats. Really, those helmets are wonderful and I like the general aesthetic of a lot of their stuff too. Both armies are a little gritty and lower-tech than the rest. With Ariadna I feel I would get a really neat little force of crazed Frenchmen, expats, and werewolves. With Haqq I feel I could expand a little more because I am "okay" with a proportionately bigger chunk of their total models in vanilla. What do?
  22. I wrote something that I felt like I should be whoring out because it's an attempt to address new players to Infinity. I started Crits Kill People because I got tired of forum gold get washed away with new posts. I've got to say, after trying to keep up with a Facebook group, the forum is a lot less breakneck. But still... I don't see Killionaire's groundbreaking Adv. Spheretactics 101 being mentioned but that's because it's gotten archived so it will not rise again. The point of Crits Kill People is to keep that forum gold glittering. This post has been deleted once through a forum SNAFU, plus a venue change for the host and it's important enough that I'm re-writing it against because it is full of advice newbies need to know. Full Article here. Gist: 5. Killers Aren't Winners 4. It's Unfair Because You Let It Happen 3. I Can't Tell You How to Play 2. If You Need to Ask for ITS List Advice, Consider Skipping ITS 1. Everything Dies Most war games are strategic. The best analogy I can think of is that your job is to create the most awesome wind-up robot that you program full of instructions, then you both reveal your robots who duke it out in an arena until one is vanquished and the other stands triumphant. Infinity is a tactics game. This means that you're supposed to pilot your robot, it isn't some automated device that trumps opponents based on how clever you are. Infinity rewards players on cunning. The what is far less important than the why. This means if you select a model that you expect to carry the entire game, for example, an Achilles who you wish to 'rambo' through an opponent you'll be severely disappointed. Achilles can die and he won't win you the game, you require Specialists. Specialists are models that are able to win you the game, such as, Doctors, Paramedics, Engineers, Hackers, Forward Observers and Chain of Command models. With requiring two different types of models, you can easily see how Infinity is a game based on decisions rather than pre-determined based on components. Due to how complex even the most simple scenarios can be, it's why the division between killers and winners needs to exist. The other unfortunate part of the fact that Infinity doesn't have an 'auto-pilot' means I can't tell you had to win. I can provide ideas but it is up to you to deal with the risk on your own terms. This is also why Infinity can seem unfair, especially when you start. There are so many ways for someone to sucker punch you with Airborne Deployment, Total Reaction, Infiltration or just being damned good at the game. The Order system also lets your opponent keep punishing you throughout the turn, making learning hard for a new player because you don't quite know where you went wrong. The good news is is that the game isn't broken; the bad news is you let that bad play happen. With Infinity having a learning curve more akin to a brick wall, I would argue to stay away from ITS. ITS is very good at determining a player's skill because the scenarios eschew everything over how to operate your models. Furthermore, any cries of "It's not your list" ring entirely untrue here. You need an optimized list, you need to know how to play your faction and you definitely need to know each of your model's limits. There are plenty of other scenarios to choose from if you want to play for fun, such as our collection of Mission Mondays, IJW's YAMS or whatever fun stuff you and your buddies want to play. Infinity can be competitive but I don't think it needs to be Warmachine level of 'each game is in preparation for the next tournament'. Live a little. Due to how flexible Infinity is with how you spend Orders and further the complexity of which actions a model may perform per Order, Infinity is more akin to an RPG. Each action is decided by you, there isn't a preset of intstructions of what models can do. This is why you're piloting of your Infinity robot is more important than the components. Factions can perform almost every single play style. What separates their capability is your ability to play them. What this means is that you're not forced into a faction for wanting to play "Shooty", "Defensive" or "Melee". Choose your faction based on the aesthetic of the model or the fluff of their story. At the beginning, a faction's strengths are very pronounced but as you get better they become far less so. Choose the models you want to play. The last thing to keep in mind with Infinity is that it is one of the few wargames where your models don't last on the table. I know I just told you to think of Infinity as an RPG but your role is going to be a hardened battlefield commander; you're not here to love your models. They're hidden under a marker, alive or dead. That's two out of three states that has your models not strutting around on the board. No matter how special a model is, especially if it has an amazing paint job, the sad fact is that if your opponent wants it dead it's dead. The only thing you can do is waste their time so severely with other models that get in the way so much is that your special model doesn't die this turn. Already kiss your models good bye when you place them on the field, only then do you have a shot at winning the game. Oh and who is your favourite ninja turtle? There's a lot of talk about ITS but I don't think it is as flavourful as Infinity's potential allows. There is also IJW's YAMS but I find that it is too random. There isn't a specific flavour in addition to the missions. I listed Mission Mondays before, but that contains talk about building for missions as well as an assortment of other random topics. 23. looking at possibly starting an Ariadna army and wanted to know if an army like a list below is one that's possible to run and could be effective. I have seen the mcmurrough lists but I enjoy some of the other wolves that vanilla offers. With boron in coming out as well I am thinking of replacing the tank hunter lieutenant with him. I do not know if this is too light on orders etc as I am not entirely familiar with the game yet but something like this appeals to me. Thank you in advance for all your assistance! 24. Greetings to everyone here on the Infinity Forums. I have recent bought Patroclus and wanted to build a list around around him to try out. However, when compared to Aleph's poster boy Achilles, tactica cover how to use Patroclus effectively is lacking. Therefore, I have decided to ask for help in creating a couple of different lists for the ITS environment that would use Pat in a meaningful way. Being a newbie to the system of Infinity, I will appreciate any help the community on this forum can give me. Hopefully this discussion will show the world what Pat is capable of and maybe cause more people to try him out.
  25. Hey everyone, as the title suggests, I started my infinity career not long ago with USAriada. I have about a dozen games under my belt and I love both Infinity and the US Rangers in space. However, I can't help but drool over some of the more high-tech options out there. That leads me to Nomads. But they are TONS different than ariadna, obviously. Especially USAriadna, which has lots of options, but all pretty straightfoward ones. Nomads is completely different in that regard as well. So below is my first attempt trying to put something together for 200 point vanilla nomads. Does this list seem like it would work? Have I shortchanged myself, made boneheaded inclusions, redundancies, etc? Any help is appreciated!!
