  2. Quick rules question: Say I assign a symbiomate to a model that's symbiont armor has 1 wound...like a Sukiel Commando. That model gets into a F2F firefight and loses the roll, taking 1 crit. That crit bypasses the symbiomates ability. My question is, does the symbiomate still get removed, because that model no longer has active symbionts armor?
  3. Hey guys, quick n00by question. If I run a Kaeltar specialist with 2 symbiomates and put one of the symbiomates on my Kotail. When he starts the game in with two holoprojectors with him do all 3 models/tokens have a symbiomate next to them? Does giving the Kotail a symbiomate reveal the real one? Can you put a symbiomate on one of the three models/token to make it more difficult for your opponent to identify the real one?
  4. Human Rights Day in Santa Cruz, CA, USA, EarthThis was a limited insertion tournament featuring Rescue, Safe Area, and Biotechvore with one additional special rule: everyone had a WarCor which was in its own Combat Group, and if at any point in the game the WarCor succeeded with a Flash Pulse against a unit actively using a O-12 banned weapon then you could count as having accomplished one of the Classified Objectives, (just like Secure HVT in place of a Classified Objective). My Lists: Limited Biotechvore-Safe Area ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 10 1 GAO-TARSOS Paramedic (Medikit) Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Pistol, CC Weapon. (0.5 | 26) 6 SWC | 297 Points Open in Infinity Army Round 1 Rescue: Zack/US AriadnaZack my opponent won the Lt. roll of and choose sides and had me deploy first, so I choose to go first.I set my K1 Sukeul on a rooftop to cover the longest firing lane, teamed with my Gao-Real on the ground and the Komutail on the roof prone. I had the HMG Sukeul to cover the advance of Neema and a Kealtar. I left the Makaul unlinked behind full cover with enough room for him to move 4" so he could benefit from its impetuous order without the risk of drawing an ARO. I place Kotails were disguised as 3 Chaksa Servants. For his deployment Zack brought a Minute Men link in total cover on flank Neema had deployed to advance up, and a Marauder Haris team to cover the other. His final placement was the Unknown Ranger w/Molotock in the middle of his deployment zone. For my reserve I placed my other Kotail as 3 more Chaksa Servants to cover the flank his Haris had deployed on.As his reserve he set up a Blackjack with a T2 Sniper Rifle on a roof with LOS to my K1 Sukeul, Gao-Real, and the Warcor. My opening turn I knew I would need to take out his Blackjack before I tried to advance up the table, so with depleted orders I my first order was to move the Gao-Real up while having the K1 Sukeul stand up and shoot at the Blackjack. I hit once, but he passed his save. I repeated this move with another order to get the Gao-Real out of LOS, but this time we both missed. On the third try the Gao-Real was out of LOS, but the Sukeul lost the face to face and had to drop his Symbiomate to prevent the ARM roll. I decided to try a different tactic and moved the HMG Sukeul to take aim at the Unknown Ranger. I hit twice, but he passed all his saves. I tried again, but again he passed both saves. My last orders were spent to get a few models out of LOS and set up AROs.On Zack's turn he started by moving his AP HMG Minuteman to shoot down my K1 Sukeul who went down in the first round of shooting. He then advance the AP HMG further around the corner to take aim at the HMG Sukeul who rolled a crit, dropping the Minuteman. He reformed the link and brought an AP Rifle up to get into a fire fight with the HMG Sukeul. His attempt took out the Symbiomate and his second caused a wound and his third knocked the Sukuel out. He advanced the Marauders up the other flank, so I flashpulsed with the WarCor blinding the leader. In my second turn the Makaul would have rushed into the open and likely been brought to a messy end, so I spend a command token to put him into a link with Neema and a Kealtar, snuffing out his impetuous order, and then had him throw smoke to cover Neema from the Blackjack, so she could take aim at the AP Rifle Minute man, who went down in the first burst. I then moved the Komutail to heal the K1 Sukeul, I then spent a few more orders to get the Komutail into a position to take aim with her MediKit at the HMG Sukeul I only hit once, but only succeeded in finishing the Sukuel off. On the other flank I had the Kotail get into a gun battle with the Harris team and knock one of them out. At the end of the turn I had both the K1 Sukeul and the Gao-Real positioned to ARO against the back jack.On his turn he took aim with the Blackjack who shot both the Gao-Real and the Sukeul. The Sukeul was hit but passed the ARM roll, and the Gao-Real hit with his Adhesive Launcher sticking the Blackjack in place. The remaining Minutemen moved around to the other side of the building they had been taking cover behind and shot at a the disguised Kotail, who was hit and lost his armor. They then took aim at the K1 Sukeul who shot back, but failed the roll and took a wound and went down.In my last turn I realized I was still basically in my deployment zone, so my first order was the now Makaul's Impetuous order which brought him face to face with the Minuteman and the Unknown Ranger. His Smoke dodge failed, and he went unconscious. My next move was to get Neema up the board to take aim at the Minuteman, but also put her in sight of the Warcor. I failed the face to face with both, and used her symbiomate. I then remembered Neema was not linked so her Frenzy characteristic would make her Impetuous so she would not be able to pick up a civilian. Since she was the only one in place I knew my only recourse would be to kill as many models as I could to leave my opponent without enough orders to complete his mission. I spend another order on Neema to shoot the Minuteman killing him and taking a flash pulse which was passed. I then shot the Warcor. With these ARO pieces neutralized my FO Kotail Forward Observed the unconscious frame of the HMG Minuteman. Then Neema continued her rampage by going around the building to take out the remaining Minutemen. It was then my opponent realized he had forgot one of them should have been another HMG he could have been using when his first HMG went down. I then moved Neema up to cover the corner the Marauders would need to come around to move any further up the board. In my remaining moves I had the Kotail move out to shoot one of the Marauders, knocking it out, before ending out of sight again. At this point my opponent only had 3 models left on the table and was in Loss of Lieutenant. He used command tokens to make his orders regular, but his move to secure the HVT with the Marauder provoked 3 AROs which caused him to go Dogged. His last 2 orders were to shoot Neema with the Unknown Ranger, but came just short of knocking her unconscious. No Civilians were rescued, but I succeeded with my classified objective for a minor victory.Round 2 Safe Area: Robert/Morats.This mission utilized IntelCom which I chose to do since I drew 2 cards I could do nothing with, and my opponent chose to keep his as a Classified Objective. This round I won the Lt. roll off, and decided to choose sides and make my opponent deploy first. He opted to go first. He deployed a Haris of an HMG Sogarat, a Feuerbach Sogarat, and Kornak in the out of cover but out of LOS of any elevated position. He placed a Vanguard Hacker on the same flank behind cover. On the other side of the table he deployed his link of 5 Daturazi 2 with Combi rifles, 2 with Chain Rifles, and 1 with a Boarding Shotgun. He placed his WarCor prone on tope of a building, and left one model in reserve.I set up my K1 Sukeul to cover the most likely approach of the Sogarats, and placed the Komutail prone on the building out of blast radius and a Kealtar on the ground. I set my HMG Sukeul, Neema, and the Gao-Real in a position to fire on the Daturazi if they rounded the corner, and placed my Kotail disguised as 3 Chaksa Servants behind cover. The Warcor was placed on top of a building covering the advance of the Daturazi as well. I placed my remaining Kealtar close to the first covering the a different corner. I left the Gao-Tarsos off the table to benefit from AD, and kept the Makaul as my reserve drop.He decided to keep his reserve model off the table.I placed the Makaul prone in a position I hoped would not be compromised by the time he needed to use his Impetuous order, and then placed my link markers, linking Neema, the HMG Sukeul, and the Gao-Real. In the other I placed on of the Kealtar, the Komutail, and the K1 Sukeul.I used one command token to drop 2 orders from my opponents order pool, but Kornak meant he still had 8 on at his disposal. His first move was to move the Sogarats up to cover, then another to move the HMG to peek out at my K1 before ducking back. I shot, but he shot back and hit, so I used the Symbiomate. He then had his hacker drop use assisted air drop and I realized how poorly I had deployed with nothing covering the backs of my units. His next move was to bring on a Rasyat, one Kealtar was just in close enough range to attempt a Change facing, but failed. He then spent one order to move up close to my Kealtar, without provoking an ARO due to Natural Born Warrior granting Stealth, and then spent another order to move into base to base, I tried to Electric pulse, but he rolled a 13 with his knife and the kealtar failed its save and died silently. The Rasyat then moved around to take aim at the HMG Sukeul, Neema, one of the one of the Chaksa Servants, and in LOS of the WarCor. The WarCor used its flashpulse, and everyone else had no reaction. He hit the Sukeul which shoved its Symbtomate in the way, Neema was kit once, and I elected to take the hit and lost a wound on her active profile. The Kotail lost its armor and its Holoechos flickered out. Luckily the intrepid reporter flashed with what I at first thought was a Crit, but upon working out the modifiers turned out to be just a hit, however the BTS was failed, so the danger of the Rasyat was nullified for the turn. My opponent then went back to his side of the table and realized he had put out the wrong list for the mission. He asked if he could swap the Daturazi for a vanguard unit, but I declined as we were nearly halfway done with the first turn, and I had deployed to counter his deployment of the Daturazi. His next move was to repeat his shots with the Sogarat and this time knocked the Sukeul out. On my turn the Makaul had to move toward the Rasyat's position but was still out of LOS so I threw smoke to cover the corner in case I needed to have the Makaul move around to attack it. had the Komutail heal the K1 Sukeul and then spent a command token to reform the link. I spent 2 orders on the Kealtar to shoot the Rasyat, the first time hitting, but he passed his armor, the second time failing and dropping smoke. I then moved the Gao-Real to Glue him through the smoke. (The next morning my opponent informed me the Rasyat had eclipse smoke). My last orders were spent getting some coverage to hamper the movement of the Daturazi link. On his second turn the Daturazi made a zig-zag approach up the table using smoke to cover their advance.he moved one of the Combi rifles around to shoot the Gao-Real who failed his armor and used his symbiomate. His next attack was to have one move into view of Neema, and the Kotail. Neema shot with her viral Pistol, and the Kotail decided to dodge. The Daturazi threw a grenade at the back of the Makaul, who passed his armor save, and one at Neema who rolled a crit, killing the Daturazi and breaking the link.He reformed the link and thew smoke so two of the Daturazi could climb up the building Neema was on. This put him in the LOS of the Gao-Real again, who I once again shot with forgetting he had 6th Sense so he was able to shoot back without any negative modifiers, he hit once but the Gao-Real made his save and I had him fail his guts roll to get out of sight. For his last turn he moved his Hacker up to control the console. On my turn the Makaul moved impetuously into base contact with the Rasyat and LOS of one of the Daturazi who shot him, so I had the Makaul hit him with his Heavy Flame Thrower. The Daturazi burnt and the Makaul went unconscious. I then spent Neema's Lt. order to move into LoS of one of the 2 Daturazi who was occupying the rooftop with her, he declared engage and Neema shot with her viral pistols, but failed to hit and ended the order with a monkey on her back. I tried to use the WarCor to flashpulse one of the Daturazi, but it made its change facing roll. I used a command Token to link the Gao-Real, HMG Sukeul, and the Komutail, and then had the Gao-Real shoot at one of the Daturazi, killing him. I moved the link around to see the last un-engaged Daturazi and killed her. The Komutail moved over to revive the Makaul. I gave an order to the K1 Sukeul to stand up, and I end by moving the Gao-Real, HMG Sukeul, and the Komutail to have LOS to the combat which would begin my opponents turn with the Daturazi's impetuous order. The Daturazi attacked Neema who fought back, the WarCor flashpulsed, the Gao-Real shot his adhesive launcher, the HMG Sukeul shot her Pistol, and the Komutail shot her Combi Rifle. The Daturazi won the roll off, but failed to crit, and all my firing only succeeded in hitting Neema, so I used her Symbiomate, much to the annoyance of my opponent. This being the last turn, my opponent needed to secure quadrants, he moved his Haris up and Kornak was blinded by the skillful reporter. he continued to move the Haris up the field, and with another order moved them up the field again and shot the WarCor with the HMG, which he did not survive, but Kornak had moved out of coherency to break the link. The HMG then moved up to take aim at the HMG Sukeul who fired back. The Sukeul hit twice and the Sogarat failed both its saves, and went unconscious. Now out of LoS the Sogarat used its Auto-MedKit, stood back up and moved further into the quadrant and faced of with the Sukeul again. This time the Sukeul rolled a crit and the Sogarat fell again. Auto-Medkit to the rescue! The next move was a combined order with Kornak moving into view of the Kealtar who shot and put him into NWI, and the 2 Sogarats facing off against the Sukeul. I figured the Sukeul would have better odds of survival by shooting at the Feuerbach. She hit twice and Sogarat failed both saves and went down. The HMG Sogarat hit the Sukeul once, but, determined to win the MVP for the match, she passed the save. On my turn the Makaul used its Impetuous order to cut down the Rasyat. The Sukeul moved around to shoot the remaining Sogarat down. I then broke the link and made a coordinated order with the Komutail, to get it into base contact with a console, and the K1 Sukeul, the HMG Sukeul, and the Gao-Real to get them into different quadrants. However the K1 Sukeul took a hit from Kornak and fell. I used the HMG Sukeul to kill Kornak in retaliation. The Gao-Tarsos walked on the side out of sight of the Hacker. I tried shooting at him, but his armor saved him. I controlled more quadrants and we tied on consoles, so I secured a major victory. Round 3 Biotechvore: Jack/ISS On this one I lost the roll off, and my opponent chose deployment, and had me deploy first. I elected to go first. The table had a large hill in the middle of the table, which allowed me to deploy a lot more things in the open. I left the Makuel outside of a link to allow him to use his impetuous order to help get him out of the Biotechvore Zone. My opponent was running a HMG Hsiens with a ZhanYing Hacker and ZhanYing Haris on one flank, in the middle he deployed a Spitfire Crane, and Crane Hacker, in a Celestial Guard Link, and on his other flank he deployed a Lu Duan with Holoechos, his Warcor and a Kuang Shi. He spent one command token to reduce me down to 8 orders, and I spent them rushing up the filed. I was able to get the K1 Sukeul into a position to fire on his Hsien if he moved out of cover. I was able to place the Gao-Real, Neema, and the HMG Sukeul into a position to fire on the Crane link if it moved carelessly. My WarCor ran his 8" which ended him just inside the Biotechvore Zone. The 2 Kotail used an order each to rush out of the Biotechvore Zone before the turn ended. The WarCor failed his BTS and fell unconscious. The Kuang Shi opended the turn by running up the field, at the end of the movement one of the Kotails had LoS, so I revealed and took the long shot which missed. The Spitfire Crane shot at the Gao-Real, scoring a critical, bypassing the Symbiomate and forcing him to fail his guts and go prone. His second move was to shoot smoke to cover his Haris. The Hsien moved out to shoot at the K1 Sukeul and scored a hit, so I allowed the Symbiomate to absorb it. The Hsien and Zhanying moved out of the cover of smoke in order to get further up the board, but moved at an angle toward more cover, so I shot and he shot back leaving the link out in the open. To make the situation worse for him the Sukeul rolled a critical. He moved again and we both fired, but I rolled higher and the Hsien failed his armor save and fell unconscious. He then spent an order on the Crane link to shoot smoke to cover his link's advance, and then spent an order to move the Crane Hacker into position and fire on the HMG Sukeul who was forced to use her Symbiomate. He spent another order to try the exchange over again, and the Sukeul was knocked out. He spent an order on the Lu Duan and moved it up the table. With his turn over it was time to measure the Biotechvore. This is when the game pretty much ended, because nothing had made it out. The Kuang Shi, the Crane Hacker, and one celestial guard made their BTS save. The Spitfire Crane failed but still had one wound remaining, so he could be counted among the remaining ISS units. On my turn 2 the Makaul moved towards his Spitfire Crane, provoking a pistol shot from the Kuang Shi and a shot from the Spitfire. The distance proved to be just within Heavy flamer range and the Crane burst into flames as the Makaul was brought down. I had the Komutail move to the unconscious WarCor, and knowing if I simply doctored it, the Biotechvore would hit it again, so I used a rule introduced in HS3 for the first time and CivEvaced the WarCor, spent another order to get it out of the Biotechvore, and then another to Doctor it back to health, saving it from certain death, and accomplishing my Experimental Drug Objective. The K1 Sukeul shot the Kuang Shi, knocking it unconscious and the Komutail moved over to Doctor the HMG Sukeul. In my last moves I positioned Neema to cover the remaining Crane and Celestial Guards positions. For his last turn he was in loss of Lt and in retreat, so he spent his last Command tokens to make his to cancel the eftects, but what little shooting he had was ineffectual, and neither unit was able to get out of the Biotechvore zone by the end of the turn which was also the end of the game. This ended as a major victory with near full surviving army points, as well as being a major PR Coup for the Tohaa. I ended the tournament with a Minor Victory, and 2 Major, placing me in 2nd overall. My take away was to remember to cover my back in case someone actually uses AD3 instead of walking on a table edge, going first in Biotechvore can actually be advantageous depending on the midfield terrain, and, while it was ineffective when I tried it, shooting into a close combat is risk free when the friendly model has a Symbiomate, (and is a bit of a dick move).
  5. Anybody else feeling bad playing Kaeltar CoC? Don´t you find them little bit overpowered? Cheap CoC easily linkable model and on top of that symbiomates who turn any symbioarmour model into something much better? Can you persuade yourself not taking at least one in every Tohaa list you create?
