Does Ariadna have spaceships?

Tommy, have you ever played Tom Clancy's Endwar before?

No I haven't.

That's probably not the best weapon for urban combat though. :scared-(-nahh-):

Ah, it just has Kinetic strikes in it.

Yeah, it's a last ditch weapon.

And there are some Hackers without Cubes, like the Alguacil and Ghulam. I can also imagine that the Alguacil in the Merovinga, could also represent a Hacker from Ariadna, he has nothing special at all (outside his Combi rifle maybe). So he might be the best Hacker in Adriana but compared to the HS he is just average.

My point wasn't that you need a Cube to be a hacker - but that, according to the fluff, both Cube and Hacking Device (and apparently most of the Human Sphere's comupter technology) are based on the same technology, quantronic processors.

Thanks for all those in-depth answers. It is interesting to see how much viable real live economical and military thought can be put into the infinity background as we know it. Is all this stuff you refer to in the rule book and HS? I have read through the background section in the rule book, but don't remember all the stuff you mentioned.

I do agree with Tommygun on Ariadnan starships, including warships. While their own technological level and industrial base might be not able to produce anything much better than a surface-to-orbit spaceplane, or intra-system transport (a lighter / tug to transfer cargo & passengers between a Circular and the orbital station), there's nothing to stop them from purchasing patrol craft, escorts, or even full-fledged warships from other parties.

It's not implausible, it's just never mentioned in the fluff anywhere.

Oh well, I guess we're left to our own imaginations then!

Alright lads, gather round an O'll Angus will set your wee minds at ease. Now some of you boys be wondering why we ain't got none of dem fancy Quan..er.umm... Quaint... umm.... Quantum... oh bugger it! We ain't got no fancy computers! Well its true we're a touch behind the rest of known space when it comes to electronics, and you can thank yer ancestors for saving ye from the terrible fate of the rest of ol mankind, that you can! Because all dem fancy do-dads have ruined them, not a single soul off world has an ounce of privacy. Why hear to tell most of the silly gits go telling the whole universe everything there is to know about a man, an what comes of that you ask me? Why I'll tell you!

Hackers! that's what! all that fancy electronics just means some clever kid can rob you blind a planet away from the reach of a Claymore. They had a world for it in the old days my grand pa told me, called it Identity theft! So before you let some off world snob go telling you, yer backwards you look'em in the eye and ask 'em how they sleep at night knowing if the system hiccups their entire lives can disappear in a blink. Because out there a man is only a collection of information! Think any of those sorry off worlders would know how to find a newspaper without a computer terminal? Think they know the value of an honest handshake? What about the joy of actually making real friends rather than playing with phantoms in a machine? think they know anything about true friendship? Hell no!

Alright so where was I? ah ya' computers. We got em' but our ancestors were smarter than these silly of worlders. See ours don't hook up to every passing computer you see, we got real security. And Id like to see some pencil necked sixteen year old hacker break into my house and out fight my sons to sit down at the family terminal and rummage through the family files! ha! Oh did I mention my oldest strangled an antipod with his bare hands last week? makes a father proud, dam shame about his eye, but the lasses love good scars.

Well what are you boys still sitting around here listening to an old man for? Off with ye' go enjoy the life your ancestors fought dam hard for. Enjoy your freedom, run and play, make real friends, pick real fights! Go on now... next time Ill tell all about how us supposedly backwards barbarians ambushed our betters in spaceships ten years back!

I just want to point out that fluff mentions, that Stavka operatives were most probably able to hijack a decent amount of a Silk supply from the Haqqi space, and then head back with it to the Dawn. Also in accordance to RPG Stavka lately conducting raids on some abandoned renegade-templar's complex on Svalarheima. Figures they have to posses some kind of means of interstellar transportation. Pardon my english

Well, if CB uses what we the fans did in the last campaign, they'll give us an Orbital Shipyard since that was what we decided was going to be our secret objective that nobody knew about.

How do you plan to protect that?

Boardzing torpedoes filled with Spetznaz Space Werewolves fired at enemy ships. Alternative if we feel more cruel, using antipode payload.

On more serious note, I think Commercial conflicts probably would be main reason for Ariadna government to actively look to estabilish some sort of orbital defense and supremacy. I am sure that back when Ariadna was being forced by Corporations, being on receving end of lacking orbital support was pain in the ass. So at this moment I am willing to bet that Kazaks have at least a few destroyers.

In a true Ariadianan way : with gigantic guns with teseum based amunitions, some form of cloacking and dog warriors boarding parties

With a network of orbital rail guns considering the lore of the RPG.

Is there somewhere more info about the subject?

The Wotan Ariadna boards and the Facebook group. Its where the patch further up this thread came from.
