Breaking Into Nomads

30 posts in this topic

Hi All,

To add a little variety to my games I've been looking at a secondary faction. I am a bit of a shiny collector so do have units from Yu Jing, Pan-O and Nomads but have settled on Nomads as my secondary faction. So this is hopefully going to turn into a painting/game journey. For the Nomad models I own at the moment I have the below.

(Vanilla Nomad starter box)

3 X Alguacil's

Mobile Brigada

Securitate

Zero

Wildcat (Engineer model that doesn't seem to show up on the site anymore)

Tsyklon Sputnic 1 + 2 (From the box)

(Uberfall Commando Box)

Chimera

3 X Pupniks

Looking to play a mix of Vanilla and Corregidor sectoral forces!

Any advice on where to go next would be appreciated

Prowlers and Intruders always work. The Lunokhod is incredible, but easy proxied by the Tsyklon, maybe just get some Moran Massai, so you could use there Koalas, and/or the Moran itself. Morlocks are very useful, but easily proxied with the Pupniks and/or Chimera, when your not using her.

Sineaters, Custodier, and Interventors are great solid units too.

And I guess the Wildcat your taking about is actually a Tomcat. ;)

Of course if your planing on playing CJC than the Starter worth a look, even though the Wildcats aren't that great in a vanilla list. The Intruder is almost worth the starter alone though. (Could take some time, until they release is separately, but there is a good chances we will see the HMG and ADHL Inruders soon.)

I do have to admit I'm trying to get a gecko in there as well when I actually make a list. Love the model and looks like it'll be a good painting project. Colour scheme that I'm aiming for is much like this. Kind of like inverse current Nomad colourMalvolio.jpg

Geckos aren't one of the nomads workhorses, but if you want it than sure get it and use it! Feel free to post the lists if your unsure about some stuff.

Don't know the character, but an Evel Knievel scheme would be awesome!

Intruders and Morans would be useful in Vanilla and Corregidor

The new Interventors and Morlocks would be good for Vanilla.

How do you normally play Yu Jing and PanO? If you want to add variety, then it would help to know what you normally play.

Don't actually play Yu-Jing or Pan-O just have some models that I liked and wanted to paint. Currently playing Mero's for Ariadna and quite like the whole sneaky camo thing

Sneaky Camo is pretty much what a lot of Nomad units do too. I guess a focus on Hacking would be the biggest difference than. Adding the new Interventors or the awesome Custodier would fix that in a hard beat!

Does mean I can no longer say 'My stuffs too manly to hack' but also looking forwards to actually been able to hack things now!

Actually you'll be able to melt parts of the table using hellfire missiles, and lots of remotes. hacking comes as a plus

Was just playing with a remote heavy list in the list builder. I do really love the models

Yup having lots of unique remotes, backed by interventors and a TAG would be an awesome change of pace.  The Iguana and Geckos look really awesome.  Tsyklons look awesome, but I've been having a hard time using them.  I think having markers on such a fast model is interesting, so having a list that can take advantage of that might be the way to go.  Lunokhods are great backfield defenders.

I guess you also have more AD options with tomcats and hellcats.  Sin Eaters would be another unique model that has no equivalent in Ariadna.  And the Spektr lets you play around with TO camo.

So do you want your Nomads to play similarly (i.e., lots of camo sneakiness), or are you looking for a completely different play style out of the Nomads?

To be honest a bit of both. I'd like to keep some sneakiness (Spektr's have been catching my eye there) and go the whole hi-tech hacking route and get a few REM's on the table as well

Hold your horses, man!

2 hackers are more than enough!

I also try to take 2 different ones, one with more BTS and the other with more WIP, if possible. Or one Camo surprise Hacker and an Interventor f.e.

The first list isn't bad, but might profit from a HMG Intruder instead of the redundant Hackers. And some form of Engineer to fix the Remotes.

Example lis:

logo_51.png NOMADS
──────────────────────────────────────────────────

 GROUP 1 sep.gifsep.giforden_regular.png10 orden_irregular.png0 orden_impetuosa.png0

 logo_51_33.pngINTERVENTOR Hacker (Hacking Device Plus) Lieutenant Combi Rifle + 1 FastPanda / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 28)
logo_51_16.pngSPEKTR Hacker (Hacking Device) Combi Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 45)
 logo_51_6.pngINTRUDER HMG, Grenades / Pistol, CCW. (1.5 | 44)
logo_51_22.pngZOE (Hacking Device) Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (53)
logo_51_22_2.pngPI-WELL Combi Rifle / Electric Pulse.
 logo_51_32.pngSALYUT (EVO Repeater) Electric Pulse. (0.5 | 13)
 logo_51_27.pngREAKTION ZOND HMG, Antipersonnel Mines / Electric Pulse. (1 | 28)
logo_51_25.pngLUNOKHOD Boarding Shotgun, Heavy Flamethrower, CrazyKoalas (2) / Electric Pulse. (29)
 logo_51_24.pngTSYKLON Spitfire, Marker / Electric Pulse. (1 | 37)
logo_51_59.pngLUPE BALBOA Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, Panzerfaust,  Smoke Grenades / Pistol, CCW. (23)

if you paint them a bit different, using the female Interventor and her Panda as Zoe is probably ok with every body! Since they are way prettier minis.

But but! Hacking! Was also thinking on the ITS specialist troops for getting objectives (Since the club I'm at plays those missions quite a lot) I like the two interventors as it lets me hide my LT and the EVO Repeater with them just looks nasty. And the Spektr would be up near the objectives hidden and sneaky like. But will see what I can come up with on the engineer and HMG because lets face it. The intruder model is amazing

I forgot to include the GML Remote in the list above.

4 Hackers are still overkill though. Zoe and Pi-Well really are the perfect Remote list unit. Since Pi-well can boost Lunokhods and Tsyklons, and she is a Hacker and an Engineer.

I guess the Intruder is also rather easily converted into a HMG one, but nobody will mind if you don't buy the old ones and just use him as a proxy.

Why bother with a vertigo zond in a list with forward observers or HD+s to hack-mark? If you're going to have a missile launcher that's going to need to direct fire (and win firefights), I'd rather have it on a 5-model alguacile link team for the superior BS and Burst.

I derped, and derped hard! Forgot there was no HD+'s or FO's in that list

First list looks good. I would maybe make some minor tweaks. I might post a list later, if I get around to it.

The second list is almost good but has a major problem: no FO for the Vertigo!

CJC unfortunately has no HD+ so you need FOs to mark. Moran Massais are great for it, but really shine in combination with HD+ too, because of there repeaters too.

Also a fith Wildcat might be more valuable than a second tomcat. ;)

Generally CJC is not that great for Hacking. They can do it, and have some decent units for it, but nothing compared to Bakunin or Vanilla!

Edit: ninjas, damn tablet!
