Why Is The Sophotect So Fast?

52 posts in this topic

Seems a simple question. While I am happy with the results her speed can bring it kinda bugs me. Is her helper bot supposed to be a hover board? Or is it at least a very fast little fabricator bot to be able to keep up with her? Is there some fluff justification or example that makes it make sense, or is she just harder/better/faster/stronger like the asura?

Could it be, based on this concept art that she is actually meant to be standing on a hovercraft that her 25mm base is a part of, rather than inside a giant metal hula hoop? If so, that could explain her speed. I've never seen one up close but those protrusions kinda look like thrusters.

That ring is her nano forge not a hover device. The Soph is fast thanks to type of lhost they use.

porque no los dos?

The Soph is fast thanks to type of lhost they use.

According to HS they use Deva Lhosts, which are all 4-4.

She's just very serious about her job.  She doesn't want to make anyone wait to get their medical/engineering attention when needed.

I'm not sure about the reason behind her speed in teh fiction, but in the game she's meant to be a direct analog to Combined Army's Obsidian Mechanoid. Most of the original Aleph releases were designed to be mirrors of Combined Army units.

Sophatech/Mechanoid

Myrmidons/Daturazi

Asura/Charontid

Naga/Shrouded

Dasyus/Malignos

Marut/Avatar

Netrod/Imetron

Ekdromoi/Rasyat

Hmm interesting on the mirrored units. I have always liked that part of ALEPH

ALEPH: "there is another AI in the universe managing the affairs of a space faring civilization so we have to destroy it utterly..."

O12 Chancellor: "but ALEPH don't you think that sounds a lot like what you are doing? Maybe we could negotiate-"

ALEPH: "DESTROY IT UTTERLY!"

I might have to put my sopho on a flight base on top of a normal base and go with the hover board idea. Kinda too cool to pass up

Unfortunatly ALEPH can't destory the EI as their is currantly no way for humanity to reach its core systems, all it can do for now is stim the worst of the EI's forces, not only that but ALEPH is also keeping close tabbs on the Tohaa. If anything ALEPH is terrified because the EI is so much more advanced than it and it is far more vicious/insidious than what the AI is currantly comfortable with, seeing as if it dose anything to drastice it could easily backfire on it.

Sorry getting back to the question the reason the sophotect is so quick is because she is built out of SUPER LIGHT WEIGHT composite materials and rocket boosters.

I could get behind that too.

The Sophotect is fast because fast specialists and especially fast doctors/engineers are great and ALEPH knows this.

Being as ALEPH then specifically builds bodies for the job, it made Sophotects all really good sprinters.

ALEPH, you see, likes to power game the human body

Solar all you've done is explain the construction of Achilles and Ajax and not the sophtect. For she is an enigma and must remain as such.

Trollish answer!
She is so fast so she can collect all the tear of Aleph "haters" that cry "OP!", along those of the Aleph players that cry "Nerf!". She has so much work to do... :P
Sorry. :)

In contrast to the earlier levitating idea, Bostria and Warren from BoW talk about the Sophotect, her motherforge and more than anything, her A.S.S. for about 5 minutes at 13:55 without mentioning it floats, so I'd be tempted to say she just walks real fast.

She's a mysterious sort so she is

How does she carry around that Nanoforge is what I want to know

I pretty sure the Nanoforge is part hover board, which goes to show that Pan-o can't have all the shinny toy's in the toy box.

Avicenna is 6-4 and also rocks an Lhost body. I think the simple reason is that they are built for speed not general combat duties. Military equipment adds up fast and these days it's stuff like batteries, radio, computer, GPS that make the average US soldier load that literally wears them into the ground. Not to mention armour, ammo and guns.

Why is the Sophotect so fast? Simple, she's basically ALEPH tech-support and what is more annoying then slow support staff? Even more so if you are an AI.

Do wrist mounted chainsaws count as DA CCW? And is her head a regular CCW...

She's fast because she's Aleph and giving her the same stats as everyone else wouldn't fit their theme of being randomly better at things than everyone else with no discernible points cost increase.

tongue in cheek don't kill me

Sophies might use standard Deva-type lhosts, but they're still elite engineers so it's safe to assume they tune/upgrade their bodies as much as possible.

Very personal version of "Pimp My Ride"

Fine-tuning for the job is most likely. With Aleph  troops relying on technology even more than other it makes sense to have your Engineer be as fast as it can be. Plus, as already mentioned, it's a mirror match with CA. Which we're winning. We might not have G:Mnemonica or Plasma weapons, but our specialists are way cuter :D
