Scarface & Cordelia's role on the field?

6 posts in this topic

I have been having a difficult time understanding the best way to play this unit. On one hand it seems like a very offensive unit for first turn blitz on the enemy team but it seems like it requires quite a bit of support and it doesn't have amazing defensive stats and it's weaponry isn't anything to write home about. It seems more akin to a light tag than a main battle tag and it's point cost reflects that quite a bit, since some HI cost as much as it.

How do I use it to it's full potential?

Scarface is a bully, essential a slightly bigger, tougher Gecko. Use him to pick on things weaker than him and either order starve your enemy's heavy hitters or take them on with your own big boys.

He's armed with what is essentially a DAM15 Spitfire and is fast, he excels at punching through wreak points and wrecking order pools and cheerleaders, Assault can be a nasty surprises to a lot of TO and camo troops too.

You'll need to support him with something that can take out ARO threats, a panzerfaust is just not reliable but it does make him a good addition to Co-ordinated orders to take down strong ARO pieces.

He can take a couple of knocks and keep going, but he's not Invincible. He doesn't mind taking a mine to the face but watch out for missile launchers and enemy 'fausts, especially after he frenzies. Defensively your best bet is suppression fire.

As of TAGline he can jump out of his Ramhorn and grab objectives too, be careful of TO troopers when you do this though.

He also brings am engineer with mimetism which is never a bad thing to have on the table, especially if you give her a G: Servant.

He's also quite big and hard to hide, and when frenzied can't get cover.

His CC value isn't great and his armour is basically that of a good heavy infantry so he's relatively fragile. However he is cheap and comes with an excellent mimetic engineer

The Engineer and cheap TAG combo also enables running a dual TAG list rather nicely. For PanO he is like a bigger Fatherknight with -1BS for 1DAM and trading a bit of CCBTS and S2 for 3STR and a Panzerfaust ARO.

Really like the option, shame if they'll go away after TAGline.

I like them in Highly Classified scenario. Usually with an TR remote and a helper remote. It makes the engineering objectives much easier to pull off. Also Scarface is solid order magnet that can hit back. Since he usually distracts my opponent from my main threat which is a 5 man link.  Due to the low costs of the duo it possible to have them in the same list without sacrificing support models. If I try that with a 80-90 point tag I just can't make fit a non-starter link.

I had one game where I had Scarface intentionally run into some Koalas for a damage. Then run back to Cordelia just to get the objective.

Scarface you shove down the middle of the table and either leave him as a big roadbump or lock something important in cc.

Cornelia is a bonus mimetism engineer that saves you the trouble of bringing one specialist.
