Kriza Boracs, Tunguska Crisis Special Unit - Speculation

451 posts in this topic

Some of you might have seen the leaked boxes that are apperantly coming to as Addons for Ice Storm and Red Veil to bring each force up to 300.

So there is a new HI for Tunguska in that Box, the Kriza Boracs (also a new MSR Intruder and Hellcat Spitfire).

A quick run down of the points in Ice Storm and the leaked troops sum up to 240-250 depending on which Alguacil Profiles CB plans to run. That means Tunguska will have a new high end HI for Nomads costing 50-60 points and as the name states, armed with at least an MK12.

In this point bracket and armed with "only" a MK12 there should be some seriously expensive gear on the guy. Either a MSV or Camo/TO/ODD. Any ideas from you guys how the Kriza Boracs might end up?

As an added bonus there is some art for them already and if the final trooper turns out anything like that it looks interesting.

It's worth noting that artwork is from back in the day when Mobile Brigada looked like this:

Mobile B.jpg

So I wouldn't put "too" much stock in it.

We've seen a Nomad S5 base on Angel's table recently that is yet to materialize, and Tarik Mansuri offers an S5 counterpart in the other box, so I'd expect S5 Kriza Boracs.

As to what equipment would get them to that kind of point range, I don't know but I kinda hope it's not TO or ODD, just because I feel like it's been done enough to produce top end HI. I'd rather them fill their own niche than be a new take on the Swiss/Hac Tao concept.

TO or ODD on an HI I don't see happening for anything less than 60 points on an HI unless stats like BS are below average for the cost or something like the frenzy discount.

Mimetism/camo and some extra goodies, I see happening.

Perhaps some heavier guns like a feuerbach or AP HMG. More breaker guns would be nice.

They've been pictured with X Visors before in art I think. Fast S5 (6-4 / super jump) HI with shorter ranged weapons (possibly hackers, possibly repeaters bc Tunguska) might be an interesting take. More like Nomad Su Jians than Nomad Azra'il. We already have tanky S5 in Taskmasters. At 60 odd pts that is significantly more expensivel kit than either Azra'il or Taskmasters though, so should be interesting!

6-4 S5 HI with moderate armor, like 4, 6 BTS and BS 13 with a killer hacking device and WIP 14

Gotta hack fast.

Too few points probably Dasaan, the rest of the list leaves 55-60 odd points to be filled with the Kriza Mk12.

@chaos11 looking at Haq there could easily be 5-10 points in Alguacil + Spektr Specialist for the 300 points. So it fits the range.

The more I think about it the less I know what it could be. With 50 something points it'll be a top range troop for Tunguska and Nomads in general. I don't see any way to get it all the way up to a possible 60 without Visor/Mimetism/ODD/MCamo/TO, it frankly needs one of those to make it worthwhile. At the same time I don't like  a Anathematic/Swiss/Hac Tao light with MK12. Seems too boring. Riot Grrrls are already HI with MSV1 in Nomads, so I doubt that's what we'll see. If Tunguska doesn't get Smoke - MSV2 and a Link option would be okay to give the Intruder in Vanilla a run for his money, while making the Kriza Boracs usable in Tunguska with a Fireteam.

When they first appeared they apparently had X-Visors which I guess is okay with an MK12. Thats an interesting start, but there should be more. In general I don't think any faction should get an option that shoots better than existing stuff, I much prefer different troops taking a different path towards the same goal instead of slapping more on top. As it stands I like the limits of effiency where they are for almost all factions. USARF and Haq could use a slightly better top contender, but thats about it.

So I'd really like to see something that can compete with an Intruder (without Smoke) for Tunguska. MSV2 + X-Visor, Mk12 at BS13 sounds good to me combined with a ARM5 chassis. More resilient, shorter range and a bit less deadly than an Intruder, can get fairly close and take a template to the face. Not a replacement but serious competition.

@Teslarod good point about the Spektr, I already had the Alguacils as specialists so it's still ~53 points, but not as much of a disparity as I thought:

Considering Nomads already have a fast or "assault" S5 HI, I'd bet on this one being a slow, "turret" HI.

More Azra'il/Yan Huo/Blackjack than Taskmaster/Al Fasid/Ayax.

But then the Mk12 makes little sense... unless it is masquerading something else, like how that "bounty hunter with 2 breaker pistols" is actually a bounty hunter sniper.

I kind of hope they have a repeater as standard equipment, like the securitates

I hope on X-visor+TO, it`s different animal from either Swiss /Hac Tao because of S5, and Anathematic is S6 and in different price range.

MK 12 means pretty much that they'll be close quarter troops.

also, the name remind me very much of the role that Taskmaster already have in Bakunin.

Judging from the illustration, I imagine Kriza will have X-visor of some kind (X visor L2 maybe?) maybe Mimetism/camo

if Xvisor L2 is true, i sincerely hope that they'll be armed with a HGL

I would love for them to have MSV2 but I doubt it somehow. But a S 5 ARM 5 equivalent to the Hsien would be ace.

We don't have any holoprojector. That would be cool I guess.

A Holo on that base size would be pretty hilarious.  Something 9 feet tall trying to look inconspicuous (unless it ends up not being that big.)

I agree that something will be needed to differentiate the KB from the Swast.  The Swast covers a lot of bases/claims a lot of design space.

Surprisingly though, it would put it right about on par with the points for the PanO side of things(286)...although there's some claims that the Kamau are getting a points hike so that's up in the air.

Well the description on the website that the contents are from says they make the starter boxes 300pt lists so the PanO one will be 300pts somehow. I don't really see the Kamau getting a 14 point price hike so I guess some of the models will be specialists in the 300pt list.

286 points is still within 300 points though. And it leaves you some pointage to play with.

The PanO one, closest I can get right now, at least as WYSIWYG, is 298 points(which is still a legal 300 point list). It involves the Father-Knight being fielded as a Hacker and the Fusiliers with their FO+Deployable Repeater profiles.

CB is very...interesting when it comes to point values. Wonderful example: Did you know that you can get the 300 point Army Pack for Steel Phalanx to be over 300 points by fielding the Myrmidon with a sword only as a Combi Rifle instead of Chain Rifle?

That's one of the good things about "generic" models being able to count as so many different things. Flexibility.

On the other hand it would be a way to keep MSV2 for vanilla nomads fairly limited (put it on a high cost troop) and not step on the Intruder too much, whilst still giving it to the "High Tech" Sectorial.

My bet is that Kriza are like a short ranged, super big HI version of the design space taken by Bao and Black friars (The "all the visors" squad). I'd love some sort of rapid deployment / movement focus to go with that - being the "Crisis Special Unit" but I guess we will see!

I agree, really, and it would mean that Nomads wouldn't have MSV2 on anything sub-35pts, which I think would be fine really.

If anything it's just because I'm tired of taking Intruders as my only Nomad MSV2 (same as I'm tired of Djanbazans as my only MSV2 in Haqq)

Anyway, some sort of serious firepower HI would be great, and I expect these guys to be the real elite!
